Why are people charging an arm and a leg for Suzaku barding all of a sudden?

In 2020, I bought Suzaku barding for my main character's chocobo Moltres for ≈30k. Later for Princess Celestia's Philomena chocobo and she paid ≈50k

I have boughten a few others for a few different alts and never paid more than 60k for one.

Now you CANNOT get one for under 160k. I had my Lugia character sever hop after seeing it for 175k on Leviathan only to find that 165k was the cheapest on any server. Lugia's "Ho-oh" is now without her fire gear.

In just one year's time, the Suzaku barding jumped from 30k to a WHOPPING 160k - 250k depending on server. My Lugia character is new and cannot afford to be paying 5-6x the normal price for shit.

Why are people price gouging the Suzaku barding all of a sudden? It is now going for five times more than it used to.


People are so quick to report people selling gil on whatever XYZ website yet those same people are jacking up the prices, price gouging the marketboard. They are only encouraging people to get their gil elsewhere.

Have you checked the sale history for the item? It may be that the ones you're seeing aren't selling because the price is too high but people are buying up the ones at lower prices. If they actually are buying them for 165K, then it's most likely an increase in demand associated with the increased number of players. It may also be a result of people from servers with higher amounts of money, and therefore higher MB prices, going to servers with lower MB prices to buy things, causing prices on previously lower-priced servers to increase.

I've got a feeling that we're going to have to adjust our thinking on pricing going forward given these two situations.
