Estate Hall Access - Help pls

Hey everyone!

So in my FC we're currently doing an event that involves re-modelling the FC house.
To avoid spoiling anything for members i wanted to close the FC house for the time being so they're not able to enter and see what's coming for the event. However no matter what i try and do it doesn't seem to lock people out of the FC house.

I am aware of the "Estate Hall Access" setting and that i can disable that + i read somewhere that i also have to disable the Guest Access because if i don't then people would be allowed to enter anyway as guest. I actually tried disabling every single setting of the rank and they were still able to enter.

I'm quite unsure of whatever else i can do so i'm hoping anyone could help out here please.

Unfortunately the "Estate Hall Access" setting hasn't worked for quite a few years and as you've found, it doesn't matter what you select, they can still enter the house.

From what I can gather it was changed because people were being forced to stay in FCs. Explaining further: To leave an FC you have to demolish your FC room and some FC owners were actually removing Estate Hall access so they were keeping that member in the FC. The member was unable to get into the house therefore unable to remove their FC room, so they were then stuck in the FC.

SE's solution was to always allow someone into the house so they could demolish the FC room (and then leave) and thus why it doesn't work now :(

While you cant close the house for your members (for reasons explained), have you considered putting a notice up on the message board simply asking them not to enter the house? The message will appear in their chat every time they log in and I doubt that anyone would ignore a request like that?

Have done now yup, just wanted to see if there was anything else i could do instead.

In case anyone is searching and finds this thread, I don't know if this was true at the time that it was posted, but it is not true currently.

You were correct about having to disable Guest Access, but they were talking about a different setting in the Estate Settings, not the Hierarchy Settings.

I tested to confirm. The full requirements to lock members out of the house are as follows:

1. The member's rank must have "Estate Hall Access" unchecked.
   - This prevents them from entering the house as a member.
   
   
2. *** The settings in the Main Menu > Social > Housing > Estate Settings > Free Company Estate must have "Guest Access" unchecked.
   - This prevents them from entering the house anyway as a guest (and everyone else in the game).
   
   
3. The member's rank must have "Guest Access" unchecked.
   - This prevents them from changing the previous setting to let themselves back in.
