Asmongold on NSFW mods

Asmongold recently did a interview with someone on nsfw mods and lewd gposing.
If I remember right yoshi said this can be serious trouble for FFXIV because someone could look at a post of a lewd image of a lalafell or the twins/ ryne and learn its from FFXIV and this is what the game could show.

You think after this interview SE is gonna double down on bans? Seeing as asmon is one of the biggest MMO streamers its not hard to think a SE employee or two was watching.

Hopefully something is done about the problem. I used to really enjoy role-play and yet ended up quitting as a consequence of repeated unwanted advances on both an IC and OOC front. (IC = In Character, OOC = Out Of Character).

Worse yet, more often than not nobody involved bothered to even ask my age at the time. Which should set off all sorts of red flags.

Agreed, I feel like this kind of coverage would only make the problem worse, and I am pretty sure these are venues that charge gil, so it may just encourage this kind of behaviour even more in-game. I heard that in part of one of his interviews they stated that modders are actually making thousands of dollars off their mods, from patreon or whatever. I don't really feel like this is a good thing for the game.

People are saying that many modders being whales protects them. It won't. We have plenty of whales that don't do those sort of things and plenty of other normal players that buy something here or there. These NSFW modders already spent that money. SE has it no matter what. How much money would be lost if FFXIV becomes known as the lewd game, while that new status turns away a lot of people? Not only that, but from what I hear some of the lewd stuff is focused on lalafells and npcs that are minors (like the twins).

There is a chance enough people won't know about it, but if anything is published on it, it could become a problem for SE. Odds are SE already knows it happened.

Nothing needs to be done about it. If this is how people enjoy spending time. That is ok. RP is about freedom, and shape by the community. This game has some pretty dark tones when it comes to this type of stuff anyway.


Why do people want to go after others fun? It is pixels and not real. If it goes OOC just turn it down and be flattered or something. Are we really going to gate keep peoples way of rp and having fun? SE can't do a thing about these mods. And if you don't like this sort of thing. Than leave the people alone that do.

My husband and I don't rp, but we enjoy it when we see it because we treat them like npcs that make the world feel more immersive. That is it, what they do behind closed doors just like real life is no concern of mine, and I don't want to ruin it.

It is a crime in many countries to engage in inappropriate activity with minors.

Furthermore, just because the game happens to touch upon darker themes from time to time that is accounted for in the age ratings and is carefully controlled as to not be extremely disturbing or revolting.

There's nothing stopping people from engaging in regular role-play. I don't think people should be perpetuating the falsehood that ERP is acceptable and will not risk the integrity of an account if caught, though.

I think its less about the erp community and more about the nsfw mods and what they could bring. As I said, people take lewd photo's of lalafells, twins and ryne and gaia and post them on twitter, discord and other places.
FF14 is getting way more popular and these lewd mods are just gonna be bad press if SE doesn't show theyre doing something about it.
SE doesn't care if two adult are getting their freak on with lewd texting its the mods dummies are posting on twitter for anybody can see. On top
Modder making 1k+ dollars off SE assists.

If it endangers minors, yes.

Well SE said they won't install spysoftware on our pcs cause of legal reasons. Dunno why, maybe such anticheat software that scans your pc is not legal in japan.

Without taking any sides here, i feel bad for the modder. xD She must be hated now by the entire modding scene for putting so much attention onto them.

I find using the minors for some moral issues to be silly. For one, it is the parents jobs to teach kids right and wrong. What to do and not. So them even being online in a social settings. Second off kids keep doing this sort of thing at a younger and younger age, even when I was growing up. My best friend in middle school was active in this way. My view point is. Better for them to get kicks off in a fantasy than have life ruined.


Point is the game is rated T for sexual themes, and all that stuff and teens are sexual. It can't be helped. It is not the community job to care about bad parenting.
