Black Mage Movement to casting

Black Mage casting deters solo play for one reason alone. the casting interruption.

Date & Time: every day I play.
Frequency: every time I cast a spell while in combat.
World name: Marlboro
Character name: Elicia Draconis

Steps:
1. moving away from enemy attack.
1(A). stop moving
2. casting.
3. casting interrupted.
4. Game thinks I'm still moving.
5. Im not moving.
6. begin casting spell.
7. Enemy uses area of effect attack or spell.
8. I move out of the way.
10. casting is Interrupted. (This makes sense since moving out of AOE)
11. I cast another spell at the end of my movement.
12. casting interrupted.
13. game still thinks i am moving.
14. repeat steps 1 through 11.

This not only makes solo battles difficult to manage. It also makes damage output lack luster in group situations. Making my battles less fun when dealing with higher lvl raid/duty content.

I'm having a bit of trouble understanding your issue from the write up.

At level 30 you can get an ability called Mighty Guard, which is a tank stance. It prevents your casts from being interrupted by enemies.

From what it sounds like, you're just experiencing the unfortunate other end of slidecasting. The problem you're experiencing is caused by the same thing that causes slidecasting; the way the game interprets actions.

Put simply, because of the game's built-in 200ms lag (there are proper terms I cannot think of ATM I apologize but the words I'm using should evoke the same sentiments), you are still moving according to the server, even though on the client you've stopped.
