Bit of a shameless plug, but here’s a short video I made regarding their thoughts on store mounts.

On EU i also don't hear many players complaining about it. Guess it's (again) an NA thing.
Lol on Twitter JP players seem to be singing praises while EU players are mostly making fun of NA players (not all of them). So yes… it’s just NA being NA. Meanwhile SE has been teaching the lyrics to the mount song lol.
The older I've gotten the less I'm apprehensive about cash shop. They are optional items, and you have the freedom to choose to buy it or not. Ten years ago I'd be in the "no cash shop" crowd, but this is a business and when they see a demand for something, of course they're going to monetize it to the fullest extent. Not only that, this game has made some great QoL changes for people like myself who prioritizes IRL over their product so of course I'll support the company by making a purchase from the cash shop once in a while. Having a job means disposable income (if your ducks are in a row), and sometimes you want to treat yourself to a digital trinket.
There are so many cool mounts you can earn in game, even extra mounts for finishing the primal set. Bozja has a mount for getting all the notes, and many of the seasonal events may have mounts. People didn't seem too bothered by the lunar whale, and honestly I'm RELIEVED they didn't lock it behind PVP.
This mount will be my reward if I pass a certain exam before Endwalker's release.
I mean NA has such a different culture. It's crazy.
I was doing Eureka back in the days on both NA and EU and coming from EU to NA was a culture shock. Like on EU all players waited before pulling notorious monsters, often up to 5+ minutes. On NA it was always pull on sight no matter how many players are on the way. JP can also raid perfectly fine with macros via the dutyfinder. They don't complain about having to run old extremes in mentor roulette while NA players cry their eyes out about it. Same with the shout chat, on NA it's a mess in big hubs and on JP and EU it's all quiet.
NA is just a different world.
The complainers are the minority. Unfortunately for the rest of us, they're a very, very, very vocal minority.
As a NA player, I honestly would have preferred if they made it a MGP mount. Put it at 9 million MGP, and then it's something for people to work towards. I'm sure eventually, when it goes on sale and I have the extra money to throw at it, I probably will buy it...but until then, I'm not going to be buying it.
