Overcrowded servers=PLEASE fix loading priorities to load content first, Players

Hi, please please please fix loading priorities to load in-game content such as NPCs and enemies to load FIRST and other players to load LAST.

Currently, the game loads every other player in the vicinity before loading what players actually want to engage with--the content. This has always been a problem with hunts, where there are so many players that you couldn't see the mark and if you didn't hit the mark, you didn't get the reward.

Now, that servers are all getting overcrowded this has become a problem with the game in general. We have to wait several seconds if not minutes for quest NPCs or chocobo keeps (on new characters) etc. to load. During the Gold Saucer event, sometimes the Gate NPC took so long to load that I missed the GATE (this is especially bad for GATEs with already small participation windows like Anywhere the Wind Blows and Slice is Right. Could make those longer too). Now we have the Moon fire faire and you have to talk to several NPCs before being able to get credit for the FATE. I've hit it close to missing the FATE because I was waiting for the NPCs to load.

Please just fix the loading priorities. I know it's nice to see other players roaming around and all but honestly, the only time I'm really interested in SEEING another player is when they are in my party or if they're on my friends list. I don't really have any reason to see strangers other than examining their glams which happens rarely.

yeah its have been an issue since forever , its based on distance so moving close the npc helps ,but hunts are a pain because that u load 30 players before it loads the npc ....

priority mobs > npcs > PARTY MEMBERS > others PCs

Standing right in front of the NPC unfortunately doesn't help when 50 other players are standing in front of that NPC and are being loaded first though :/

I agree with that priority list. Though I'm not sure if mobs should always come before NPCs. Actually mobs you're not trying to engage with often get in the way of interacting with an NPC. It's only bosses and hunt marks that you want to are really important. I would say the following:

Boss/Mark > interactive NPC > mobs > housing items/environment > party members > friends > non-interactive NPCs > all other players

You can literally set your targeting to that and I just dont get why we cant set our loading priority like that lol

They are working as hard as they can with the chip shortage.

What does this have to do with chip shortage? Seems like a coding issue to me. Not trying to be snarky. Genuine question.

I don't think I've ever seen an npc take longer than a second to load....

That would have been my answer but with my quite fast PC I recently assembled I noticed that when I load into Limsa I'm stuck in an animation (can still walk) and everyone loads in withings like... 5 seconds?
Has literally never happened before.

This wasn't a problem on Tonberry Pre-Wow-Flood outside of very specific situations like events or the hunt, but now even markets or aetheryte areas take forever to load. The delay is quite noticeable.

Not that WoW or any other reason is to blame; there's just a lot of people stuffed into each server..probably more than was ever intended. SE has mentioned their plan to upgrade server infrastructure due to this and has said the current situation has sped up their plans...so no real need to worry as it's being worked on.

....all that said, yeah.. the culling system they added way back when should be much more intelligent.
