please help!
I am embarrassed to be posting this, so please be kind. I am mentally disabled, and kind of slow. When I played the last MMO i played the Moon chicken. I basically pressed 4-5 buttons and did pretty good in raids, my guild was really nice to me.
I tried red mage, and summoner, but there are just way to many buttons and mechanics. Then there is the fact that I always die :( So I am turning to the almighty forums before I give up on Final Fantasy XIV. Can anyone please recommend something that only has a few buttons to press, and good survivability? Please and thank you <3

All jobs require you to use your kit efficiently (use all the buttons available), especially as you get further.
It might sound dumb but have you tried Crafting/Gathering?

Honestly, once RDM gets its heal skill it does have the best survivability and is one of the lower complexity jobs. While its possible to play any job without using all their skills, it won't be possible for someone to go into raids or end game content like that. Perhaps if you were to give some examples of what kinds of mechanics you find difficult or how many buttons is too many, it would help narrow down what to suggest.
Edit:
You may also want to visit the Siren section of the forums and ask about any FCs that might be able to help you practice different jobs and help you through some content. You could also ask in the major cities for FCs to join.

I enjoy red mage, and i can do the ranged abilities. It's when I add the melee stuff that it gets complicated for me. I can usually do up to 7 buttons, it's when I add more that my brain starts to hurt. If I could just stay back and do red mage abilities, I would be fine. I do enjoy fishing :)

Unfortunately, there's no job that can be played well with just 7 buttons in raid or EX trials content.
However, there are jobs that can be played...less than optimally...with only 7 buttons. If you do that though you risk raising the ire of your team mates so you should probably stick to doing 4 person content, such as dungeons, with a party of your friends.
As you've noticed, it is possible to play a ranged version of RDM with 7 buttons. DNC and Bard can also be semi-effective with 7 buttons. Monk and Nin won't be possible. SAM and DRG could be played with 7 buttons but you'll never be able to build to your strong hits so you'll always feel kinda weak.
WAR, PLD, and DRK all have short main rotations but they also have a lot of cool downs and party responsibility. If you go in with a healer who knows you won't be using your CDs then you may be able to do one of these. GNB will have too many buttons for you though.
I would avoid healers. They require a lot of cooldown management and party awareness, more so than tanks do.
Overall, I think you'd be best helped by finding a good FC that can help teach you and go through content with you. They would also be the best way for you to approach more demanding content.
If you choose to do crafting and gathering, you'll still be required to get one job to 80 so you can get through the MSQ and unlock all zones but you may have an easier time with those jobs. You don't have to worry about quick decisions and you can always read the tool tips at your leisure if you forget what a skill does. Gathering only uses a few skills at any given time and crafting is easily done with macros; even without macros you don't use that many different skills for each craft.

ok Thank you, i will start looking for a different game.

if you are not attempting EX/Savage content you should be fine enough with what you can manage.

Yeah, in normal difficulty content RDM would be servicable. As for survivability, focus on doing mechanics/dodging attacks first, then go back to casting once youre safe. An ultimate or savage group would want more out of you, but that content is fully optional and you dont have to do it if you dont like.

Disabled players clears hardest content in the game.
Just a way to say you can go higher than you believe.
Other than that, a good 80% of the game is accessible and you wont have trouble clearing it.
Forum, don't torch me, but you can play RDM ignoring most abilities and only using the one you like.
As long as it's story content and normal mode raid, I don't believe there is a problem, no one can kick you because of low DPS.
Disabled or not, hard content is for the people dedicated to it. It won't impact your experience if you can't play it.

IMO Dancer is the best option for you.
1-2 button rotation for single target and AoE respectively, with ocasional glowing buttons that you'll have no trouble keeping track of because, you know, if something glows... press it.
