Why does the duty finder...

When searching for a specific raid/idungeon, why does the duty finder sometimes seem to dump you into the 'general pool' of people using a random search after a certain duration, and other times, not?

I've been in a queue for Obronne Monastery for 65 minutes now. I am one hundred percent certain that other random raids (not OM) have launched in that time. But I appear to have been overlooked. I realize that looking for a specific raid or dungeon ups the wait times, but typically - after a certain duration - groups seem to be populated by people in the general, random queue. Not always, though - sometimes I just sit like this for 90+ minutes with no relief.

Why is the duty finder wired this way? Or, perhaps a better question is: what is the DF doing that sometimes it fills these raids really fast, and sometimes it just lets them sit? I'm not angry, I just want to know why the wait times vary so enormously.

depends on who's queuing for them. if you're queued specifically for OM, the game is limited by the pool of players that have unlocked that far. it probably looks for exact match ups first then tries to fill from the pool of people queuing for alliance raid roulette, then mentor roulette. but since most people cheese Alliance raid roulette by removing their gear they're only going to get Crystal Tower raids first, again limiting the amount of people you can be matched with for OM.

They need to fix that.

Go by highest item level for selected job in their armoury chest and bags. Problem solved. They only want to do crystal tower they can do it on a level 50 character with trash gear.

i mean you could still get around that too. you'd just have to store all that gear in a retainer and then queue, then get it all back out of the retainer before the queue pops. more annoying but still possible since the game can't read if you have the gear if it's stored there.

There are many things that effects on duty finder queuing time.

One probably biggest effect on duty finder queuing time is what time of day you are using duty finder when at least for me it does have really big effect when if i use duty finder for specific dungeon, trial, raid or alliance raid at morning, the queuing time mostly takes over 30 to over 90 min, while afternoon the same specific dungeon, trial, raid or alliance raid queuing time takes mostly less then 30 min.

It depends a lot on how many players are queuing on same dungeon, trial, raid or allaince raid then you are.

When players are using duty roulette for dungeon, trial, raid or alliance raid, it depends a lot on their level, gear and what dungeons, trials, raids and alliance raids they have unlocked and also which dungeon, trial, raid or alliance raid gets ready first.

Queuing in duty finder as tank, healer or dps effects quite a bit too on the queuing time, when if you play as tank or healer you get most of time lot shorter queuing time then as dps, which is also main reaosn why most of time duty roulette shows tank or healer needed.

Also you can to enable to join ongoing dungeon, trial, raid or alliance raid from settings that also lowers wait time but with this setting turned on, you can ended up joining on any part of dungeon, trial, raid or alliance raid run, even at near end of dungeon, trial, raid or alliance raid run.

Just queue as healer. It'll magically bypass any hidden timer and fill it up regardless within a few seconds.

I was in a 65min queue once and there was no "party" yet to be filled, then dropped it and queued as healer and got insta matched for the same raid.

They should do it so that you need to have the ilvl for the last lvl 50 raid when you are lvl 51+, need ilvl for last lvl 60 raid when you are lvl 61+ and so on to even queue for alliance roulette.

The higher level the raid, the less people that queue for it, but being involved in the relic has made a lot more people queue for them.

More of the people who queue for an Alliance Raid roulette will be on a below level 60 alt and they may not have even unlocked the higher level raids.

Yeah. This is a thing that can be frustrating.

It basically boils down to not reserving an instance for an individual, but instead trying to "tetris together" parties from what's available to send out asap. Think of it like filling rides at a theme park.

So, assuming you are a DPS, you will need 7 other members, including 2 healers and a tank who:

A) Specifically want to go to your dungeon or
B) Doing roulette with the required iLVL and/or
C) Don't essentially get "poached" by other groups.

As I understand it, you may be entitled to the next group that comes along, and say you have everything but 1 healer... then someone queues for an easier roulette and all they need is a tank. They're ready to go, and the tank that's currently in your group signed up for anything (roulette), so they're gone and you're stuck needing a tank AND a healer now. This can go back and forth until everything clicks in place.

No thank you. I roll with what I get but considering how much I've gotten the Nier raids over the past 3 weeks of daily Alliance Roulette, I don't want anything forcing me into higher raids anymore than I want things forcing me into lower raids. I have all 80s so I would have the reverse problem of getting too much Nier like people are getting too much CT.
