Asmon finally made it to Ishgard.

I'll be honest, Asmon and I do not see eye to eye on a lot of things. he and I disagree fundamentally on a lot that went on in WOW. I however was NOT anywhere near the shenanigans at the start, nor would I ever be part of that kind of arrant idiocy.

The GMs came down hard on the jerks, and that was as it should be.

But today was different, today I saw something that not only made me cry a little, but brought joy and laughter. We have given him a memory he will cherish for many years to come.

Look at that childlike wonder on his face, the look of amazement and warmth. HUNDREDS of players waiting to welcome him. Ive never seen this ever in an MMO, never seen a community get together like this.

I am immensely, unbelievably proud of all who gathered together. This is the FF 14 community, this is who we really are.

Good journey to you Asmongold, welcome to Ishgard.

I cannot wait to see his journey on Heavensward. I enjoyed his ARR journey.

No one likes to make pretty lines of mounts like FFXIV players likes! lol. This was pretty cool though!

On subject of Asmongold- while I've not watched every video the dude has given the game not only a fair shake but also it seems to be a beneficial one.

In other news as we spread the fun of the game we increase the heat SE is feeling to keep the servers from turning into little mini-suns. Going to need to pack the servers to Antarctica to keep them chilled during launch if we can keep growth up lol.

I was one of the doubters before he joined who thought he wouldn't make it through ARR. Good for him. Hopefully he continues to enjoy the game. Thankfully I'm not on Cactuar though so I can watch it all unfold from afar. lol The crowds following him around are insane. Either way it's nice to see someone actually enjoying themselves after putting up with WoW's problems for so long. He'll still continue to play it I'm sure and that's fine, but the difference is very clear between when he's playing this game and when he's playing or talking about WoW. In a way I can relate with that.

I mean I like the community myself. Most of them are reasonable, just laid back want to have fun. Happy that we are playing this great game.

Such as life though, the negative people tend to be the loudest, and make the rest look bad. As asmon said about Blizzard. Take red coloring just a drop in a cup of water, and watch what happens. That is the ff14 community as well. We have some amazing people, but we also got ones that escape into the game so much, that they become offended, and hate anyone they deem not worth playing it.


I'm glad asmon understands that most of the people are pretty chilled and the loudest ones are not the most.

I've looked at his streams. He's been doing more content than most people ever done - from doing Min ILV No Echo EX content, Min ILV No Echo Coils of Bahamut (and no one really does this at MIN iLVL anymore), to Gold saucer Leap of Faith and Chocobo Races. He's actually getting to experience everything as they should be compared to most people who skip old content or get an unsynced clear. The difference in storytelling is a lot stronger in that regard since went out of his way to learn the mechanics and earned his win.

He gained respect to catgirls, learned to respect roes (Moenbryda), and learned that lalas are actually dangerous, but some are really nice. His worldview of FFXIV has been getting flipped a lot but he's still enjoying the entirety of the FFXIV experience. Respect to him, can't wait to see his Heavensward journey going forward. Things only go up from here.

Can't say he's goanna clear an ultimate before Endwalker drops with how immersed he gets though, heh. But that's the beauty of FFXIV, lots of good stuff to do if you want to do them. Plenty of content that shouldn't be rushed and taken at their own leisure.

I'm happy to see so many happy he made it past the wall that is ARR.

To those on Aether excited enough to show up and welcome him to Ishgard, I salute you. You put on an amazing show for all of us.

The last time I saw Aether apes stick together like this was on Dreadwyrm's lawn, and that wasn't half as cool to see as this.
