Cannot cancel quest

I am unable to cancel the quest The Ties That Bind aka the quest where you set a date for your wedding with your partner. Long story short, my friend doesn't really play anymore. I want to cancel the quest so I can play NG+

I still have the Promise of Passion wristlet I got off the mogstation, but when I go speak to the NPC the Sanctum Acolyte he always say I'm not in possession of one. I've tried wearing the wristlet or keeping it in my inventory/armory chest every time I try to cancel the quest, but each time he tells me the same thing.

Am I doing something wrong? I've filed a ticket with a GM, but looking at other people's trouble with this quest has shown me a lot of them just get told to come to the forums so I'm going ahead and trying here too while I wait on a response. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Just throw away the wristlet *then* abandon.
