Can I play my character in non-steam account when I originally played in steam vers?

I bought the started edition on steam last week that only has ARR and HW, but I just realized that the Square Enix store has the complete edition with all of the expansions on sale for $23. If I buy the complete edition through Square Enix, will I be able to log in to my character in the Square Enix version?

You would need to make a new account, PC version can only run on steam or out of steam, not both.

So no, your steam account would be separate from the account you make via the SE store version unless you bought a steam key from the SE store.

I'm pretty sure you get redirected to the mogstation regardless of where you purchase the game. All you need to do is register the new code on the mogstation and then log into the game. Your characters are locked to your account and not the platform you choose to play from.

I had a friend bump into this same situation, but he ended up buying a new copy of the game so he didn't have to play through Steam anymore.
