Non steam shadowbringer on steam version

Hi everyone, i'm actually lvling my 1st character on a steam version that i bought a long time ago and i was just wondering :

Can i buy Shadowbringers on ff14 website and actually play it on my steam version or do i HAVE to pass through steam store to be able to play it ?

It's really really confusing me, so i'll take any answer, thanks !

You gotta buy the steam version, otherwise you won't be able do play it.

The Store and Steam version are a part of each other. So to avoid a wrong purchase, buy the dlc over steam store.
