Can we please get 1 more gathering class for animal parts, please?

I'm getting tired of having to google search where to get each skin, teeth, or whatnot; i'd rather just be able to just search for them like I do with all the other mats. I can't be the only one that wants this... right?

I mean If you need suggestions on how such a job would work then just have it work like it does with fishing but have it where you hunt down animals and kill/tranq them and then click on the killed/sleeping mob to collect x or y material from them. you know like how game hunters do? you can even have the tools for the job be a Pelt Scraper and a Tail Stripper or something for it as well.

How about an addition to the hunting log that has lists of enemies and their drops? Or some new "Dismemberment Log".

I think I'd rather a log for items that than a new gathering class solely for gathering this kind of thing personally.

That's what the DoW/DoM retainers are for.

While such a log might be fun for completionists, there isn't much reason for another gathering class to get the materials. You collect the parts naturally while fighting mobs in the open world (and also in instances). Then, once you collect a diremite web yourself, for example, you can then send your non-gatherer retainer out to fetch them, assuming they are appropriately leveled.

Looking at the crafters recipes, you can pretty much figure out which animal is going to provide the materials needed. If you need a yeti fang, go hunt yetis. If you need a diremite sinew, go hunt diremites.

A new gatherer job who takes out the RNG of the monster drops would be nice to be not dependent on killing stuff for hours or paying for extra retainers anymore.

There may have been one in plans during 1.X, because there were clues in the game data about a "Shepherd" class, with its own sign. But it was long since abandoned, just like Musketeer. (yes I know people theorize part of this class was adapted to machinist but I doubt it's really the same thing)

Many of the materials for the current expansion can be purchased by completing FATEs and using the gems to purchase them. Totally takes out any RNG.

There will be many sad people out there who lose major income if they suddenly eliminated RNG for monster drops. After all, every gatherer class still has some form of RNG involving either quality or the ability to collect right now.

If we get any jobs I want Archaeology. Skinning would be cool BUT BUT FF14 do not leave bodies on the ground and instantly despawn.

I don't see anything akin to WoW's skinning happening. FFXIV doesn't leave bodies, and honestly this feels like a lot of work for little gain.

A log of sorts could work. But making an entirely new dol class just to gather the animal parts we already get from just killing stuff? That's overkill. They would have to either revamp killing mobs to allow this, in which case you'd be swapping between your combat job and your dol class to kill things then harvest them. Or they'd have to put new sets of nodes out throughout EVERY ZONE IN THE GAME for this new class and fill in 90 levels worth of nodes for them. And to be on the same playing field as the other dol classes, books to farm for to unlock rare nodes etc.

And what is the purpose? Just as an alternative way to get what we can already get now by killing mobs? No thanks. It wouldn't really add anything new to the doh/dol ecosystem. I'm firmly against awkwardly welding on a new doh class where we really don't need it. Not for the sake of just getting a new one and not for the sake of this.

Again though, a sort of log of what monsters drop what? That could be useful, sure. An actual class, no thank you.
