yes one of the best games this century, tlou2 had an amazing story that ff14 should learn from
Because stuff like Cyberpunk 2077 releases, and it's better to stick with what's good.
I enjoyed Nier Replicant this year and that's about it.
Guilty Gear Strive is pretty great, would highly recommend. Apart from that I haven't delved into new releases, mostly just back catalog and replaying old classics.
I usually play games I want when they release. I've played through XV, VIIR, Cold steel 1-4, trails in the sky 1-3, R&C, some of Replicant, need to get around to that, a few other games, and also play Elite: Dangerous.
Its EASY to find time to play other games and still put a ton of time into XIV.
Also work full time and am back in school for a BAS.
I imagine everyone is different (unsurprisingly). I play a number of the older Total War games, Sea of Thieves, Farcry, GTA, Valkyria Chronicles (I honestly believe that the first Valkyria Chronicles is the best RPG ever made), Crusader Kings, a number of Call of Duty games, etc., etc. While I've been playing FFXIV a lot recently, I'm sure my interest will wane with time - especially once some of the pending MMORPGs expected to release in the next few years come out (such as Ashes of Creation).
I think most people who play this game are gamers and play new releases, at least that's the sense I get from a lot of Free Companies I've been in.
But some people do just play this and there are lots of reasons to. You can chase achievements, mounts or Triple Triad cards and find yourself spending years grinding them all. You can be a completionist or you can go back and do all the expansions' worth of high-end duties synced. You can spawn S ranks, PvP (which constantly gives you seasonal mounts if you do well) or do role-playing which is infinite content.
I've never been the type of guy to stick to just one game or genre. There's a number of games on the horizon that I'm looking forward to such as Dying Light 2 and I've been having a lot of fun lately with the Elder Scrolls Online, Final Fantasy VIIR and Resident Evil 8. That's in addition to other hobbies such as hiking and hitting up fancy restaurants.
Each to their own, but personally I think such is the best approach to take. Relying on just one game or hobby to provide entertainment is inevitably going to lead to disappointment.
I do, but most of what’s coming out is trash
I play new games (I'm juggling FF14, Guilty Gear Strive, and R-Type Final 2 right now), but I don't know if I'd say I follow the AAA scene specifically lol.
As for not keeping up with new releases = a waste of time, what's wrong with playing old games as "games other tham FF14?"
I just got a copy of Vagrant Story, and only recently discovered the old River King series.
Who do you play?
