Original Warriors of Light Significance

Do the old Warriors of Light that nobody can remember come up in the actual story at any point? I know one of them can be the player character if you transfer from the old game version, but that leaves at least four unaccounted for.

On top of that, people in game seem to think --regardless of if you played the old version-- that your character is one of the original Warriors of Light, unless I misunderstood the giving of the title.

This probably should have been asked in the lore section. The expansion trailers are not accurate representation of what happens in game. While there are some parts that did happen the party you see the poster child of the game with before they get teleported into the future don't really matter. If you see them again or not is semi spoilery and complicated.

Ah, you're right. My apologies, I'm still getting used to this forum. Thank you for the answer.

The 'original' Warriors of Light were actually the original players of FFXIV 1.0 that was shut down (which ARR replaced). 1.0 players that passed a certain point in 1.0's storyline (the Lunar Transmitter fight) started ARR with a different opening where they teleported into the game like the 'New Beginning' opening movie and walked to their starting city, and have some slighty different dialogue throughout ARR's story, and eventually

at the end everyone remembers that they were at Cartenau and thus was one of the 'original' Warriors of Light now returned and are celebrated as such accordingly.

From the point of view of the 'default' story though (that new players get, along with returning 1.0 players like me who never statisfied that 1.0 story requirement), the original Warriors of Light never returned as far as Eorzea knew, but instead became an ideal to live up to for new adventurers who 'answered the Crystal's Call' and flocked to Eorzea to defend it. Also, and this is a spoiler for you,

at the end due to being 'chosen' by Hydaelyn with both the Echo and the Blessing of Light and your actions in gathering the six Crystals of Light, slaying the Primals, destroying the Ultima Weapon, uniting Eorzea together and driving away Lahabrea, you become a new Warrior of Light yourself, thus making whether you were one due to your actions during the Calamity or have just become one now moot, the point is, in the story from your point of view your character is the Warrior of Light.

basically how it is lore wise (from my memory) is this.

there are two types Warriors of Light.

1. the ones that were there before the calamity.
2. the ones that arrived after the calamity.

the "canon" WoL is the one that was there before the calamity but this is locked off due to the legacy version not existing anymore. the other version (which is basically everyone at this point) is the "non-canon" version of the WoL. Both versions of the WoL story intertwine around Heavensward era and from there, there is really not much to any real major differences in the storyline between the two versions.

and personally it be neat if they re-released 1.0. as a standalone thing and allowed players to playthrough it and eventually transfer themselves over to ARR for those that want to experience the canon WoL journey for themselves because at this point there is really no harm in letting people experience 1.0. again, infact it'll only benefit the journey through xiv for those that just joined.
