Die - Reset - TP - Repeat

This seems to be getting more common on Delubrum these days.
Someone leaves the party at the start and begins the thread title.
Get killed, reset, use fight start to be tp to boss, get killed, reset…
Can’t be kicked as they leave the party.
Surely there is something square can do to prevent this? Leaving the party shouldn’t entitle you to a free carry

I think it's a design flaw in delubrum itself. Since delubrum is like southern front/zadnor than a raid.

Every time I see this, I do a /shout to let the person know I gonna report them, and also encourage the raid to report them. And each time it had spook the AFKer and make them leave (so they can at least tell the GM they just have real life issue and need to leave). In the first run when I saw it, nobody said anything and the person ended up with the free clear like you said. But give them a warning and they'll more than likely bail. It had never fail for me.

If Square is not gonna make it so that you can kick people out of CLL/DR/Zadnor for leeching, then at the very list they can make it so that you require a certain amount of Mettle to queue for them depending on your rank (for example at rank 10 you require a minimum of 40k mettle, at rank 25 you require 10 million mettle) and increase the mettle loss for dieing. If you don't have the minimum mettle you can't queue for them.

That way, people who afk and keep dieing at the start of each battle will lose enough mettle to not be able to queue again till they go grind 50 FATEs.

While at it, Square can make it so bosses' raidwide attacks do extra damage to people not using any essences, increasing the risk of dieing and losing enough mettle not to be able to requeue, fixing the other common griefing problem in DR of people not using essences to ruin the run for other people.

The issue with this is that you inflict unnecessary punishment on anyone who may not be the best at the game and easily run the risk of Castrum & Dalriada becoming dead queues for people genuinely needing them. if Dal only gives 3million for a clear and someone isn't very good and knows they'll die enough times to get negative mettle from the whole affair, why would they queue? This exact issue was present before they made Castrum give tons of mettle for clearing due to the rewards not outweighing the losses. Not to mention any mechanics where others can kill you with no input on your own to stop it (Tank not paying attention in the final boss of Dalriada and baiting tank buster laser on people, not enough people stacking for stack markers and causing you to drop dead out of no fault of your own, Lyon group fails to beat him thus you die due to their incompetence, one side of the 1st boss of Castrum wipes so you die due to no fault of your own, etc.).

Not to mention such higher risk of dying just forces people to gravitate towards tank classes anyway or only using defensive essences/actions rather than offensive ones/jobs, making your runs even slower. Why play a dps with such harsh penalties when tanks + essence of the guardian have like 4x the survivability power? Why bring lost font of power when you can bring lost cure + lost bubble and constantly heal yourself instead of dpsing to make sure you survive things better?

You can't implement punishments that affect more than the sole target meant to dissuade them. it's the same logic as all those people wanting harsher leave penalties: They'll do nothing but hurt the innocent than your intended target. Since DR has no loot that has timers, the far easier solution is just allow people to kick & refill parties in there, and allow people to kick someone that isn't in a party. Done. CLL & Dal are a bit more complicated, but they could implement a check at the end of the instance that checks to see how much enmity credit you did during all the bosses and disqualify you from loot (including relic items & mettle) if you did less than it. But make it a very low threshold so that way only someone only autoing or afk could possibly hit it.

I don't think punishing rank 25s for spending their mettle is a good idea, considering a lot of them will get their 3 proofs of mettle as soon as they hit 20 million mettle.

why those raids doesnt work like 24 players raid is beyond me ...at least on normal :/

its a fundamental design that is deeply rooting in this game. You only need to be in an instance to receive rewards. Participation is optional and only beneficial in terms of clearing content in an acceptable time period. Yes you can report but unless someone has video evidence, on a popular stream for example, it almost always doesn't work. Tbh I don't blame people for afking in DR because it is easily the worst designed step in the relic line. Content where you need essences but make finding said essences difficult to obtain and you only get one item reward at the end. If you don't use essences you are wasting other peoples times, which can be considered griefing. These are some rough averages:

1 DR run with no essences = 1 hr+
1 DR run with some essences = 45 min+
1 DR run everyone using DPS essences = 25-35 min
1 DR run in optimized PF = 15 mins

take into account people afking and you add maybe a few more mins to each tier and you can see how much it affects things. So if you afk, regardless of if the run takes one hour or 30 mins, you will still get the reward at the end with the added benefit of not dealing with DR and freeing up your time to do other things.

Alternatively, the game could use a system that tags you as AFK if you are not dealing DPS above the minimum threshold you should be doing while using a basic essence with unoptimized rotation. Said AFK tag can't be circumvented by opening the HuD layout menu or by staying dead.

That way people who are not "the best at the game" are not punished, only people that are leeching by AFKing or not using essences.
