Suggestion - Banking System and Marketboard for FFXIV

Just wanted to throw the suggestion out there and see what other players and developers thought. I've always felt like the storage system and Marketboard system was a bit clunky, inefficient, and time consuming having to go through and talk to your retainer to access these features. I feel like its off-putting and discourages people from wanting to access those features regularly which impacts the economy as a whole. I've often wondered why we don't implement a system similar to what Jagex used in their game Runescape. Some may not be familiar with it, but they have a system where essentially you would have a "Bank" in every major establishment where you'd talk to an NPC and it'd pull a large storage window similar to like what you'd see if you opened your Chocobo saddlebag, except it would be bigger with several tabs and you could organize it and even search for items stored via a search bar at the top. Short of the extra features though even just having that in a way similar to your Chocobo saddle bag but bigger would just in itself be a MASSIVE improvement. I'm not a programmer myself, but that doesn't seem like it'd be an insanely difficult thing to implement would it? And similarly as far as the Marketboard system goes, again I think Jagex did a phenomenal job with their system and i'd love to see something resembling that, but that would obviously be a huge undertaking. Short of THAT though, I think it'd make a huge impact on the economy as a whole if you just simply made it possible to buy AND sell directly through the marketboard without having to tediously go through your retainer not only to post goods but also just to collect your funds for the selling of those goods. And that could even open the door for making new and exciting ways to use your retainers in future updates, such as having them tag along as a summonable companion like your chocobo etc etc. What are yall's thoughts on the matter? I'm sorry, I don't understand what this inventory window has to do with the market board.

Yea absolutely! So its two separate issues but both are features accessed by speaking with your retainer.

1.) accessing the market board in order to specifically SELL goods and collect funds.
2.) accessing your storage via your retainers. This is currently the only real method of storing excess goods.

My suggestion is to address issue #1 by simply allowing players to sell their goods directly from the marketboard. This cuts out the need to talk to your retainer, rifle through their text each time, wait for both their entrance and exit animations, rifle through several different retainers to find the item your looking for etc etc. All by themselves, its not too bad, but together, and having to do it every time, makes the whole process uninviting. so by simplifying that by just allowing access directly from the marketboard you cut out a large amount of unnecessary actions and time consumption. I believe this will even improve the overall economy of the game since selling on the MB wont feel like such a chore.

to address #2, again for the same reasons as #1 which is the unnecessary clicking around through text, entrance and exit animations, having your storage split up across several retainers so you have to rifle through all that nonsense in some cases multiple times to find what your looking for, INSTEAD why not just add a metaphorical "item Bank" where there's an NPC by the market boards in major cities where you just talk to them, and a storage window pops up that looks similar to your inventory bag or your chocobo saddle bag, just much much larger and with multiple tabs. That way you can just pop right in, drop your excess goods off, clean up your inventory, and bounce right back into your gameplay.

Would we have this storage instead of our saddlebag and retainers storage then?

I would definitely remove the retainer storage and have it replaced entirely by this system, but having the saddle bag storage is also nice for storing baits and stuff like that. but that could also be replaced by simply adding more inventory space I suppose. I do like the saddlebag though
