So my static cleared e12s tonight, and I meant to buy the healing chestpiece, and instead I ended up with the casting chestpiece. I needed to see about getting an item restoration so that I can purchase the right item in game

then how come the one item restoration per account exists?
You have one and only one account rewind to restore an item so it's strongly advised to not use it until absolutely necessary.
The savage caster top is good, but at this point in the game with no weekly lockout you can just go in again and try to get another one.
Does item restoration also roll your whole account back? Or am I thinking of something else?
No, it's no rollback. They just add the item again to your inventory iirc. But then again, even if they would do it in this case: if it's "one item" and they spend 8 books for the chest, getting 1 book back won't do much anyway.
In the end, it's just OPs own fault for buying the wrong chest. There are no tradebacks.
Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
We apologize for any inconvenience that has occurred when playing Final Fantasy XIV. Unfortunately the issue you are describing is not a technical issue. We will be moving this thread to "General Discussion".
Good luck with your adventures through Eorzea!
I don't know if they'd even give it to you for this, but are you sure you wouldn't rather just try to clear e12s again? You get exactly one item restoration for your character. Wouldn't you rather save it for something much bigger and harder to undo?
Soon? Its still 5/6 months away and can be used for 4 healers in the 1st couple of dungeons..
What would you waste it on?...
