No New Races... But New Clans?

As we all know, it is incredibly unlikely that we'll ever be getting additions to the playable roster beyond the forthcoming male Viera and female Hrothgar... but I still believe it to be a distinct possibility that we get new Clans added to the existing races. There are a few obvious additions - what do you think we might possibly get in the future?

Hyur could get Garleans. Elezen... might there be room for a strictly Ishgardian variety here? Lalafell, I'm at a loss. Same for Miqo'te. Roegadyn could get the Gosetsu variety.

Just spitballing here. What would you like to see? Or at least, what do you think is plausible?

Would love to see some more customization features to the races (which one might envision in the form of clans, but ideally not just that) - I think as one big character creation update type concept, perhaps around when they're going about updating graphics in general this would make sense to be part of the milestone graphical update program. Could be quite nice (might mean getting more facial hairs, or hairs in general that don't have pixels baked right into them lol).

Au Ra, imo, would be lovely with their closer to concept art as options- the females had this cool succubus look and the males looked quite draconic.

Lalafell maybe might see a very very distant cousin moogle like race. It wouldn't be fair to count Vivi like race as a whole clan, but it could be a bonus - extra if it gets more of the shadowy vibes than just dark skin like Vivi is in FFXIV lol (think more FFIX), alternatively may also think Yukes (mammets, I've head cannon that the lalafells trapped in Sil'Dih with the onsault of zombies and no nights as they're deep within the city turned to advanced forbiden magic to transfer their souls to mammets).

But I feel this all would be better when the races are improved in general, like ensuring you can have a muscle slider (as some races don't), particularly I'd love if there was a bulk slider such that you could have slender, thick, or thicc. . options lol, or separating certain features that were combined for sake of memory (I assume) - so like seperating horns from face, or hair from face in Hroth's case.

Garlean PCs will never happen. Every job and class available uses magic--even the Disciples of War--to empower and guide their actions. Garleans cannot do this and can only get around this weakness by use of magitek, which has much stricter limits than real magic. Story characters left and right would have to make concessions for a Garlean WoL who is unable to wield the most basic of little magicks. Some game mechanics exist because this is a game and we need certain conveniences, but are sometimes referenced in the game lore, like our unusually abundant Anima that allows us to teleport all over the place while everyone else has to walk or take a boat. These would make no sense for a Garlean WoL, who would need to take the boat with everyone else. Things would just be really wrong if we could make a Garlean WoL.

It's a common misconception that Pureblood Garleans cannot use magic.

It's very rare for Pureblood Garleans to be able to manipulate aether, but not impossible. There's a passage in one of the lore books that states as much, plus any player character is generally the exception to most rules in the first place. If a new point of entry were every to be made for the MSQ's, I think they'd make a fine addition as a playable option.

I still want Burmecians and Lupin.

In a perfect world, all races would've gotten the Midlander/Highlander treatment instead of being just literally recolors with tiny different details like pupil or eyebrow shapes. I'd personally find it redundant if any third clan option would be just that, though it's....better than nothing I suppose?

New clans is a neat idea, but I personally want them to update the character creation first (give us the WoL stubble please ;_;)

Just new options added to existing races, please. Some of the existing "choices" (like jawline) are very samey and hardly make any difference at all, so seem like a waste of space.

More than four faces and more feature options, please.

Give us lala kittys/bunnys/elf and a lala tonberry tribe and lala pixies
