I am aware that this is a long-term problem that has been requested before but I would like to revive the thought of having the ability to have different meld plates for each class.
I have a few Jobs that I like to play out of the selection of Jobs, example, I enjoy playing Summoner but also like playing Black Mage but due to the composition of the melding for each Job, the current setting is limiting in its design to allow players to keep a class with the correct melds for that Job.
What do others think of this?

I think that more or less has to do with the limitations on gear customization. Typically, you slot materia into the gear and it's there unless you want to risk losing it when taking it out. Reworking that system to be customizable to all jobs would be a lot of work on the UI side as well as the in-game coding when it comes to applying extra stats to gear.

Though I'm not sure how it would work with the expenditure of materia. (at least if it worked like glamour plates)
Like would you slot materia in the plate, and that's it you don't have to use any more until you need to swap stats around? Or would you have to spend all those materia every time you swap plates?
Though they've been making materia easier and easier to get and slot so I guess it's not out of the question.
At the very least I'd like to see "UNIQUE" be turned into "UNIQUE EQUIPPED" so that we could at least have two differently melded pieces of raid gear if we play two classes that share gear but not stats. -
