Sophia and Lakshmi
So I'm going off very little here, but listening to the lyrics of Equilibrium I couldn't help feel like there are some big similarities between the initial summoning of Sophia and the summoning of Lakshmi in Stormblood.
We know that at least some primal summonings are based on legends of real people or ancient stories (Garuda and Thordan are prime examples) so a wonder... might the tale of the summoning of Sophia to restore balance to a grieving mother who lost her daughter be the basis of what eventually became Lakshmi, who was also summoned to try to restore balance to a grieving mother who lost her daughter?
Does anyone know anything to support or refute this hypothesis?

I think you got the roles of Equilibrium a bit mixed up. In that song, the daughter kills her mother after she becomes abusive following the death of the family's patriarch in the war and then kills herself out of guilt.

You have the Sophia's theme's lyrics backwards.
The song is about Sophia answering the prayers of a girl who's father died in the war against Allag and mother became physically abusive. Sophia told her to kill the mother in order to restore equilibrium to the family because of the imbalance the father's death left. She does and commits suicide as punishment.

Ooooh thanks! The lyrics when I read them sounded more like a mother mourning the loss of a daughter killed in war. I'll have to go back and reread them. I had interpreted it as the uniform belonging to the daughter and the blood stained dress being the mother's who carried her dying daughter form the field of battle.
