Something is horribly wrong with Gathering Levquests

I'm just clearing out old achivements, and so I'm doing Cerment Breaker, a level 61 mining levquest.

To get the bonus takes an evaluation of 286.

I'm in endgame gathering gear, at level 80.

I'm getting 1 point per mining.

The options are "Cerment Plating" for 1 point, or "Anodized Cerment Plating" for 1 point.

Nither of these items can be HQ at any quality.

This is leftover problems from when these went from collectables to not being able to be collectables anymore, isn't it?

Given the most at any spot is 8 (and dosen't care if I use a skill to get 2, or 5), 10 if I spend my GP to get extra hits, and there's 8 spots. That makes the highest possible score 80.

Anybody willing to check me on this?

These items were never collectibles, but there is some problem at hand because the same thing happened to me.

There’s some underlying issue that messed with the point gains for gathering them. Did you have this problem with any of the other levequests that need you to reach point thresholds?

No for the Shadowbringers ones.

Yes for Heavensward and most of Stormblood.

Is this going to end up being a case by case thing?

You're in endgame gear. You far exceed the requirements for the leve. There is no challenge in collecting either item, so you gain no additional points.

Not sure if it's a gear thing or a level thing, but this is normal. If you picked up the quest at level 61 with good gear available at 61, you'd have a better point spread, because one or both items would not be 100% gather rate, and one would be more difficult to collect.

It's supposed to be a risk/reward thing. You take a greater risk on missing an item (or spend GP minimizing the risk), you may be rewarded with more points. There's no risk for you, so there's no reward.

If that was true, then why do only a subset of the ones in the middle of the game (not at the start, not at the end) behave that way?

Further, why did it only start to be strange after they removed most collectables?

Not exactly sure, but for me it's always been a level thing. The higher your actual level compared to the difficulty of the Leve, the less points you get from both types of Leve. Even in underpar gear, you get less once you level past the difficulty ranking of the leves.

This has always been true in that particular kind of gathering leve, in my experience.

Most recent example on my alt Clyde Wyvernhide. I was leveling his Botanist to 70 using Leves in Stormblood regions. I think it's a level 68 one in The Peaks? Once he hit level 69, the evaluation on the easier to obtain item dropped from 8 to 7. Then 7 to 6. The one that starts at 9 dropped from 9 to 8 and then 8 to 7.

They're for leveling, hence the name, so I'm not sure what the beef is. A below par evaluation only affects your exp/gil reward, not leve completion. So there is no real issue.
