PS5 Beta - Performance issues (framerate drop and image stuttering)

1. Log in on PS5 version of game
2. Moving camera or character around displays stuttering of frames and image as environments arounds you moves.
3. I have an old TV that only goes up to 1080p resolution, so I mostly played on FULL HD setting on the game. But I also tried WQHD and it makes the frame rate even worse.
4. I do not have this issue when I run the PS4 version of the game on the PS5.
5. The frame drops and stuttering is immediately noticeable just moving my camera around in Shirogane or moving my character. When in populated areas, the effect is worse.

Came here to post this. First I thought it was an issue with overcrowding due to patch day as I noticed it in Limsa Lominsa and didn't play much. But today when I went to continue the stormblood campaign, it was happening even in areas devoid of player characters and npcs, even in 1080p mode. I switched back to the ps4 version, running ps4 pro settings and it is smooth as silk.

Please address this because I absolutely love the other improvements that the ps5 version has, and would like to experience them, just not at the expense of framerate.

I can confirm that I see the same issue on my PS5.

Yep, the PS5 Version has bad optimization problems even tho it ran smooth at 1600p on the PS4 Version on PS5

Performance is trash, besides I don’t watch any update on resolution or performance when you change resolution in game, so I think the game is running at 1440p or 4k on FULLHD TVs, even if you select 1080p mode. I wouldn’t recommend play this current beta. PS4 version is much superior than this PS5 port currently

I notice similar, performance seems to be around 40fps on 4K which is I believe expected, and I’m definitely seeing a 4K image. However, there is an issue with flickering or stuttering when moving over grass or high detail textures:

To replicate:
Set the game to 4K
Head to somewhere with grass, idylshire is a good one.
Zoom out
Walk slowly forward
The ground will strobe anywhere there is grass

I noticed it also happens in the whorleter arena on the mesh floor, so I suspect it’s something to do with how the detailed textures are filtered

I’ll note, it’s not evident when set to other resolutions, just 4K


Update: fixed it, it was actually caused by my tv having sharpening on, for some reason it was sharpening some frames more than others (I blame 40fps, with 1 in 3 frames not updating, it probably was sharpening the unchanged frame more than the other two. I turned off sharpening and no more strobe effect.

Same problem here, most areas are affected, but moreso on the larger areas. The zone can be empty but still exhibit the behaviour.
One area that can easily replicate it is by going to Hinterlands just south of Idyllshire and point the camera towards the Alexander bubble and start spinning the camera it will stutter when pointing towards alexander, but will be 60fps the rest of the time. The PS5 beta client will stutter regardless of the resolution mode. 1080p, 1440p don't really make much difference, 4k fps is very low, unstable 30-40fps probably. PS4 client (running on PS5) runs smoothly in those areas in 1080p and 1440p modes, only time the PS4 client drops frames is when there are a high number of people like are around quest NPCs or in hub cities, and even then it isn't nearly as much as the PS5.

So there are clearly some performance issues that need to be worked out!

Same issue here hopefully they fix this soon, I want to play the game with all ps5 capabilities

I can also confirm I had this same issue on my PS5-- in addition, I had a few game freezes as I tested my macros and when sorting through my inventory-- I recorded a couple instances of this happening yesterday. I suspect this may possibly be an effect of the game synching my items and data from my PC version (I have the collector's edition on both systems).

There are definitely some performance issues that need to be tweaked and I will perform some more testing tonight.

Just did Delubrum R. for the first time on PS5 native Version and the Framerate is pretty bad for the first 2 Bosses which was no problem with the bc PS4 Version. Also had slowdowns in Preatorium which never happened before.
