"Healer adjust" is the worst joke to happen to this game's casual content & its toxic

Examples when you try to explain content for those newer in 24 mans:

• This is so easy it doesn't matter.
• You can just forget mechanics they healer can take care of it.

Examples when you call someone out for basically afk'ing / dropping things on the group:

• "Healer adjust lol"
• "Careful guys they may need to "carry" us."
• "Who cares?"
• "I can't believe you let me die."

Just because the healer can carry you through mechanics does not make it fun. Helping you basically cheese through content so you can half ass it / afk doesn't make you a good player just because you can get away with it. It makes you rude and regardless of how many Extremes / Savages (or lack there of) you have accomplished it means little if you can't even do casual content properly without harassing people who are trying to do it correctly.

It makes the game less fun for people actually going through the mechanics because they find it fun to do their best regardless of the content difficulty level.

Saying "healer adjust" to someone trying their best is not funny and ultimately it's just selfishness.

I don't mind the former. If a player can simplify things for the rest of the party by doing more, by all means. There's instances of this for both healers and tanks taking on more responsibility so there's less mechanics for the party to screw up or allows you to skip certain mechanics entirely. Probably for DPS also but I'll be honest, I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Now, for your latter, I'll adjust for a Black Mage. I'll throw them a shield pre-emptively so they can turret. I'll heal them so they can turret. I'll ask they position themselves before hand to stay in range of my aoe heals so I can more easily adjust and they can turret. I want them to turret and I will adjust so they can. I'll adjust to skip mechanics or trivialize content. I won't adjust if someone AFK's. I'll let them die and vote-kick them unless their AFK was an actual announced emergency (even if its a bathroom emergency, I can understand). But if a dude just up and AFK'd without warning I have no idea what's happening and I'm not about to give the benefit of the doubt to a random-dude that they're AFKing for good reason.

I agree with your response. I should have been more specific and that's on me regarding the instances I am referring to.

A good player will know what they can eat and where they can eat it to not disturb others, and it'll be okay. A bad player will drop things on the party itself so we have to heal everyone (or it may kill a player who was just hit by a mechanic and wasn't anticipating that person just whatevering it) but more importantly now everyone has to move which can interrupt casting and positioning thus resulting in a net loss.

The result of people being nasty and just saying "healer adjust" is toxic and not funny. I wish that joke was never created.

Inside jokes like that are for friends not total strangers.

I mean the casual content is made so you can spam heals nonstop and not miss an enrage timer. I.E. HEALERS ADJUST!

If it's that light of content that people can not take it seriously, I'll just adjust to making up for their dps when they die. My bubble is over here. Get in it or don't, but I'm not chasing them to Narnia. Same with AoE heals. We're all over here. If they drop something on our heads and I can't recover, then I guess we'll just wipe. Happens enough and the party will get mad and kick the person. It is rude to have the mentality that the healer is just going to wipe your behind all the time, but that just means we don't have to be bothered to go out of our way to help that person.

I am sure not all the situations that you are referring to are that way. Healers need to adjust to various situations and people's play styles as they go along. Same with tanks AND DPS. No run is going to be exactly like another. And remember, not everybody is as skilled as those who can one-run clear a savage raid. I have made mistakes and died because I did not see something on my screen because I was focusing on DPSing and missed some kind of cue. I can clear Suzaku extreme without dying but I still make mistakes on casual content. Sometimes my daughter will come to me and ask me an Algebra question about her homework. I can usually answer her in just a few seconds because I am 4.0 in college with math as a strong point, yet during those few seconds, a mechanic can happen and I die.

I have done Lost City of Amdapor synced hundreds of time because I like a mechanic with first boss so it is usallly a part of my poetics grind and/or Level 50 dungeon WT. I consider myself an expert on the dungeon because I run it way more than most people. Yet I can still occasionally make a mistake there—especially if 2-3 others are new to it so I have to be extra careful and I don't because most of the time I do not need to.

I have yet to see anybody intentionally making a healer carry them and not taking it seriously. I know that there are outliers and it is possible. Just because someone is bad does not mean they are not trying. If they go AFK for the whole fight, that is another story.

It does happen sometimes. You get someone who won't ever dodge even if the world is ending. They just stand in everything. It's not a calculated hit here and there. Or some actually do say that phrase or something along those lines. The onesie twosie you're talking about is much different and it's a lot more obvious when someone is doing it on purpose because they don't give a fig if they're making your job harder.

Most of the time they'll still get splash healing from me and that's either enough and we make it through or not enough and they die and I raise them. I can count on one hand the amount of times in 7 years I've intentionally withheld all healing and it always someone being an absolute jerk in chat who we ended up kicking. But I definitely will have a "get too far from me and you're on your own" type of attitude for someone with that "healer adjust" mentality.

I'm pretty sure "healer adjust" is just a meme, but maybe I'm out of the loop.

It is just a meme, healers are not obligated to adjust to whichever human bean decides to eat mechanics they are not supposed to eat. Like outside of that there is nothing else healers can "adjust" too cause it al boils down to heal raidwides, heal tankbusters, do damage and don't stand in bad.

I just wonder where all the ppl who make these threads run into these sorts of players. Cause after 10 years in this game, with barely a day going by that I have not logged in, I have never ran into anyone like this. So it is hard to believe this is such a huge problem that ppl need to complain on the forums about it.
