The current housing system is entirely unfair and restrictive, with two main issues.

The first, and probably largest is that groups are able to own multiple plots on the same server. This unfairly reduces an already limited number of plots. Since these groups have no incentive to relocate a plot and often will use them often enough that they don’t become abandoned, it is a good as permanently reducing the number of available plots. Scarcity is a driving force in the conflicts I’ve seen between players trying to get a house. It is not uncommon to hear player talk about it taking months or longer to get a property. By placing a permanent one plot limit per player or FC, you would increase the supply, reduce the number of conflicts and give FCs and incentive to buy larger plots as they grow.

The second issue is the entire waiting period. I understand the reason they implemented this system, however it is highly flawed. Because of the large window of availability, players who are not willing to hope for luck in getting a house have to camp a placard and repeatedly click, often hoping to beat other campers. Some players may wait for hours on end, just because the window is so large, and there is no way of knowing how long it might be before the plot can be sold.

One suggestion for fixing this is to set a definitive time that the plot goes to sale. While this will not stop the conflicts it gives players a time to be there to try. It could be implemented simultaneously with a fixed auction system. A fixed auction system does not allow you to choose your bid, it automatically increases by a set amount each time, I.e 10k Gil per bid., so 10k, the next bid is 20k, etc.). While this might limit players of more modest means from obtaining a house, it would also reduce the stress that many players feel when trying to get a house.
