Another interview question about Ultimate

You're probably sick of hearing it but we got a bit more info about the Ultimate Delay

I'm not going to fault them for caring about the welfare of team or how the pandemic started to slowly but surely screw them.

That being said, I can fault them for the process of how Ultimate was being play-tested. Having a non-dedicated team being the ones to try to out and polish up the details on their free time outside of their other duties isn't an effective way of doing this.

That doesn't surprise me much, Ultimate's always been sort of 'bonus' high end content outside of the normal schedule, with real consistent release and being outside of the more structured ex trial/savage raid schedules.

Well, it's nice that they've expanded on this reason for delaying it, giving more of a confirmation to players. At the very least the players that do progress and watch the content deserved this much in terms of an explanation

That being said, can't wait for the obvious and self-proclaimed 'respected hardcore' raider folk to come into the thread, or make another thread and turn it into an 'us versus them' situation.

Sadly, as the mans said the top 1% were just not important enough to overwork their staff. SE should be ashamed, they need to cater more to the top 1% what else will I watch now. I live through top raider achievements.

There probably isn't a whole lot they can do about that. The problem with designing and testing super hard content is that you need people on the dev team skilled enough to actually do said content. That's why they had to pull in people from other unrelated teams in their spare time. The class balance guy, alliance raid design guy, etc already has a full time jobs that don't involve testing Ultimates for days on end.

I'm glad this interview came out and give ppl more insight into what goes into making an Ultimate fight. I don't blame them for delaying it and I'm happy to see Yoshi P cares more for the wellbeing and health of his team than getting content pushed out of the door on time. I do think they need a more dedicated team for Q&A for Ultimate but who knows how much work it goes into finding ppl who both are skilled enough and know how to test this type of content. I do hope they can form a team and better plan in the future. Again I'm happy ppl can see the hard work that goes into this type of stuff.

Caring about the team's health and safety is the reason they are able to make high quality content.

You know: with that being the case -- there should have been more rewards tied to DRS rather than what we have now.

If only Ultimates were important enough to dedicate a team to them.
Imagine a world where designing a few fights every expac was your main job and you just did assets or whatever on the side in your "free time."
Not a terribly realistic gripe IMO.
