NPC Romance Quests

Hi,
I am fairly new to FFXIV and I am really enjoying the story so far. I am nearly finished with Storm Blood and while I was playing I noticed there are no quest where you could romance NPC. I was just wondering why is that? I think it would add another level of interest in the game if Romancing a NPC was an option in the storyline quest or even side quests. They could be a character you could customize and have access to an run dungeons with if you successfully romance that NPC. I am sure it would be a great story you could even have new dungeons and raids as part of it.

Please consider this. Or if this is not an option please mention why.

Unfortunately, because they acknowledged the idea by framing it as a ridiculous joke, I don't think we can ever expect it to happen : (

SE teased such an idea years ago as part of an April Fools' Day prank, but it was not actually serious. I'm pretty sure that SE are very reluctant to allow any kind of serious romance questline with an NPC as it goes against their concept of the Warrior of Light being a cypher, a blank slate you create yourself, and that includes having to make any relationship the player's character has with NPCs purely platonic.

That's not to say other NPCs are not clearly interested in the WoL, as that seems to be the case (it's getting to the point now whenever yet another NPC makes clumsily veiled come-ons to Enki I groan and pretty much mutter to my monitor "You and a million others! Take a number and get in line!" :P - Enki is already taken anyway.), so anything is possible I guess, but I'm pretty sure we will never see dating-sim content with your character in FFXIV I'm sorry to say.

Thanks for the info. I see now that won't be happening here in FF14. My first MMO was SWTOR and they had Romance options which was fun and made the storyline more memorable for me. That is why I surprised they did not have any.

I do think it is kinda awkward. There are many veiled comments that could be conceived as attraction by the NPCs... I agree with the OP it could be an interesting add to the game overall. They should do it just the way they allow NPCs to be used in dungeons... IF you don't have a player to tie the knot with you could chose an npc instead to do the marriage and anniversary stuff with. There is nothing that says it couldn't be a wholesome think or that it would need to interfere with the overall story. I mean if they're going to go all harvest moon on us they should go all the way :-P.

At least wouldn't have to worry about NPC quitting and not playing anymore. They should create some that one's could marry like Skyrim had.
