Removing someone from your friends list should remove yourself from their list

Exactly as the title says. The game requires you both consent to adding new players to your friends list. However, if you remove someone from your friends list, they can still stalk you. This can lead to situations where a former "friend" can now abuse other players. This is clearly not SE's intended outcome.

If this was EvE Online, this might be the intended outcome where players trolling and abusing other players to the point of making them quit the game is part and parcel of standard acceptable gameplay. This is not an appropriate outcome for FFXIV.

I completely agree that once you remove someone from your Friend’s List, you should be removed from theirs. A lot of people do, because this has been requested in the past numerous times. However, Yoshida supposedly said that they haven’t added two-way removal because they “don’t want people’s feelings to get hurt”.

Idk why this still hasn't been updated. Having a terrible person ALWAYS able to see where you are is insane. This needs to be implemented.

that is weird, id rather have two-way removal than dealing with a stalker following and harassing me

I agree with this, if nothing else because I'll have people I haven't seen in game in FOREVER and they'd be on my friend's list but I'm not on theirs and neither of us know why. Sometimes this rekindles a friendship, other times nothing comes of it. But its super awkward to be like "hey I know you, but I dont"

This very likely breaks certain EU laws though. Since ingame activity is still privacy sensitive information (online/offline states matter!).

Why would that change anything? They could easily just use the search function. Just block them and report them and move on with your day.

Because it doesn't work, and can easily get out of hand. The tools we have to block users are insufficient. They do not prevent access of blacklisted parties to your private rooms, houses, or even FC. Blacklisted folks can still post to your message book, for example. Better yet, grab a friend and have things relayed to you anyway. GM's are terribly slow to deal with harassment, stalking, and other issues. See the thread just below this one.
