Questions about Bozja.

I've never really done Eureka or anything like that; only started playing this game during SHB. From what I can gather you basically run around doing FATES in an instanced area to "rank up" and occasionally get placed in a queue for bigger fights, or something like that.

I guess the main thing I'm curious about is how solo friendly it is. I mainly plan to play around in Bozja while I'm at work, which means I'll be in and out of the game randomly. So, can I just dick around in Bozja for like 20 minutes at a time as a solo player and make real progress, or is it Party Finder or don't bother content?

If you are a tank then it's pretty easy to get full credit through regular Fates. However, I would suggest getting a group for Critical Engagements, which are boss battles. You can always leave the group afterwards though. And you will need a group to progress through Castrum Lacus Litore at rank 10 in order to finish the story so you can head to the next zone when it releases. You can grind ranks and Fates solo if you want to, but a full group tends to be more efficient all around. But it's doable without one aside from Castrum, and if you are really good at the Critical Engagements and know how to dodge mechanics. Having a healing action helps, especially as a solo tank.

Are critical engagements something you can queue for and get a group automatically, or do I actually have to find people myself?

I plan to play my Paladin, and I don't mind it being slower/more challenging to solo as long as it's possible. I mainly just want to be able to jump in and out at my leisure, and not need to be constantly reliant on finding other people in order to do anything.

Is Eureka soloable for the most part as well? I may try that to.

You can queue up for them in the instance, but you may want to type "LFG" into the chat upon entry. Just a suggestion, really, not a requirement. It will all but guarantee you full credit so long as everyone in your group is alive long enough to make it happen. But if you are going into it as PLD then you will probably have an easier time all around. I haven't touched Eureka in ages, but...I'd say it can be, at least to an extent. Aside from some of the bigger boss Fates you will probably be fine. Spawning the main boss fates will require a bit of a team effort, I'd imagine, since the mobs you need to kill are very, VERY strong. BA will require multiple full groups to clear. There are also high level and low level areas. The high level areas can be explored solo with extreme caution, but if something sees you you better run for dear life. In Eureka, the difficulty of Fates will scale to how many people are in the instance. I'm not entirely sure how the scaling works in Bozja, but I think they work similarly to open world Fates in that they will scale to how many people did them last. Critical Engagements...I've never been in an instance that didn't have 20-70 people to see how that goes.

When you start off, I would say it isn't very solo friendly at all. Even for a PLD. I really don't think tanks have that much of an advantage over other roles in there. You'll want assistance taking down any mob rank 3 or higher; you will want to avoid engaging multiple mobs; and starred mobs will still break their fast with you.

Gaining access to lost actions and items is what will ease your solo play, but acquiring these items is more efficiently done in groups. Entering critical engagements solo, especially when you don't know the mechanics is a complete waste of your time. In the extreme likelihood that you fall during the engagement, there is a high chance that you will not be raised as those with rezz capability will prioritize those in their party. You will still get raised after the engagement is won if your patient.

My advice is to start off soloing easy targets and hop into the various squirmishes that spawn to gain mettle, fragments, clusters, etc. It shouldn't be too difficult as PLD to get max participation. When you can register for a critical engagement do so, and you will be transported to the fighting grounds. Once here, I recommend typing "LFG", or "LFG <insert job here>" as some groups might be looking for a particular role to join them, but it's not that important.

After the engagement is won, you can choose to stay with the group, or you can leave it. If the group is filled with players around your rank, I would highly consider staying with them. If they are higher, they will transport themselves to various sections in bozja you don't have access to until your rank is higher, and you complete the related quests.

In short, soling is indeed possible with the exception of running Castrum, but far more efficient to gain accessibility throughout Bozja through grouping.

How do groups generally work in Bozja? Is there specific compositions like with regular duties, or is it basically a free for all? Do groups generally stay together, or is it some kind of split farming deal?

It's like I said, I plan to be disappearing a lot and playing erratically because I'm at work. I'm fine with doing the group thing for the occasional boss fight, but don't want to have to be keeping pace with a group the entire time I'm in Bozja.

Like your average Fate group. A free for all. That goes for Critical Engagementss as well. Castrum...you would want a preformed group, usually 2 healers, 1 tank and 5 dps. But is is doable with other variations as well. A healer is a must though at the very least.

It's solo friendly in that you can enter Bozja on your own and don't need to worry about PF or DF or queues.
However to efficiently deal with the content in Bozja, you will need to join a party once inside. So you will be constantly asking to join parties for Critical Engagements, or Castrum when you get there, or for farming and FATEs.
It's very common to just type "LFG" (looking for group) into say chat (when you're at the location with various other people) and then get instantly picked up by a random party, which then disbands once that current event has finished. People don't expect you to hang around for anything and yes you can just drop in for 20 minutes, do a few FATEs, a couple CE's and then bail.

I find that Bozja is very solo friendly, you don't have to bother much with any of the trash mobs unless you're specifically looking to farm dying memories for your relic, forgotten fragments that will yield Lost skills, or Bozjan clusters to buy glamour stuff (partying and chaining mobs is the fastest way to get these, but you won't rank up this way). You can rank up fast just by doing all the FATEs, even solo or duo, and you're still going to get some of the above rewards on top of that. Critical Engagements are a very nice change from Eureka's boss fates, since you can sign up and get teleported to it when it starts, no more missing out because you were halfway across the map when it popped. You'll want to party up for these, but you can just raise your hand in the preparation phase and get invited momentarily to someone's party, then go back to solo play once it's over.

My only serious gripe is with the final content, Attack on Castrum Lacus Litore. This is required for completion of the Rank 10 quest, it's like a mini-dungeon for up to 42 people. Thing is no one signs up for it anymore because there's so very little incentive to run it again after you've cleared it as it opens up other ways to get the same rewards easier, and the penalty to Mettle from dying is just too severe for people to risk it over peanuts. I'm still stuck trying to advance past this point because no one has anything to gain from helping me out.

Hey! I’ve been ‘soloing’ it so to speak and it’s really really chill and relax. You literally just drop in and out of groups.

So for instance, a normal day, I’ll ride to a fate.. if tons are doing it and I’m unlikely to get gold I’ll /s lfg fate and get an invite. Or I’ll just kill it myself.

When a CE pops up I queue it and join it then ‘LFG’ and someone invites me. I may stay with them to do fates or I may leave. Some will leave.

I tend to be like ‘thanks guys, good luck’ but most just drop in and out.

It’s really not something you have to worry about. It benefits you to be in a group when a lot of people are doing fates and for the CEs so you get healing. And you obviously need a group for Bozja. But you aren’t married to them.

Cluster farming, I think that’s different, you would join a group and just stay in it for a while to get what you need. But again I imagine you can leave anytime.
