Question about tempering

As I am a returning player I decided to restart from zero. I knew MSQ has been shortened so I did not found it a hassle. What I have encountered is that I had completely forgotten that individuals tempered by a primal cannot be saved, they must be slaughtered. I know this game is very well known for its darkness but I also like that in some instances they found ways to save people. I wonder if the soul research that takes place during shadow bringers could some day lead to Untempering. I don't know if dev's look at this at all but just going through a Real Reborn I cannot fathom how many people must have died after a primal surfaces.
