Patch 5.4 MNK Openers and Tips

Hi everyone~

With the changes to MNK for 5.4, I thought I'd update my guide with some new openers. Honestly, with how streamlined MNK is now, I wouldn't be surprised if people already figured these out before the servers went live, but I thought I'd post what I've come up with. I've also provided a chart comparing the potency between each opener within a 36sec time frame. Aside from that, most of the guide's been gutted with how streamlined MNK is now, leaving only some tips on how to optimize DPS. Hope this helps!

Yeah. That's pretty solid. Personal DPS wise, it's ahead of the Early opener I made by about 1 GCD and the Delayed opener by 2 GCDs in terms of potency due to the extra Bootshine. And between that and the Early Opener, the question then ends up being how it meshes with other classes's rotations and whether those 2 seconds are enough to fit in another boot before the boss becomes un-targetable.

One thing that draws my attention with the Balance opener, however, is you're pretty much locked into that buff alignment for the remainder of the fight. This means that, in the unfortunate event that Snap is the first GCD to follow RoF, one of the PB GCDs will have to be a Demo, which could bring the number of Boots the rotation results in to fall more in line with the openers I made.

So in the end, I'd say all three are pretty even, more or less.

I'm pretty sure they look at job synergy on The Balance. They also post an early buffs rotation.

Same thing as the previously linked opener. Within the 36sec time frame, it's higher because of one extra bootshine. However, unlike the the first opener you linked, the Early opener I made immediately overtakes it in the next GCD. It also still has the same issue as the first opener in that you get locked into that particular buff alignment for every subsequent burst window, requiring a Demo within PB and possibly putting you to the same number of LF Boots as the openers I made. Also, I would highly advise against switching the DK and Boot like in the picture. I'd imagine the goal is to get an extra Boot within the next RoF window, but using it raw essentially puts you behind half a GCD (on top of the other issue I mentioned).

I'm honestly not sure what's with this obsession to use PB as soon as possible. You don't need to delay it between GCDs after the change anymore and it's cooldown lines up with RoF and BH, so it shouldn't really drift, so what's the rush? So long as it fits within RoF, it's fine.

Also added the two Balance Openers provided by Jukebox12 to demonstrate the points I made. It doesn't demonstrate the issue I mentioned for subsequent RoF phases, but anyone who's played MNK long enough should know how there are times when the GCD following RoF can sometimes be a Snap.

I like how you ignored how I straight up said that they both come out ahead by 1 GCD due to the extra bootshine within the first 36secs. I just also pointed out that they also lock you into a specific buff alignment for the rest of the fight, so they might lose that lead later down the line. Had they not had that issue, I'd have probably taken down what I made and just directed people to those openers linked instead.

Just so that people can explain how volatile the difference between rotations can be, I've extended each chart so that every rotations does 5 LF Bootshines. Also, since each chart ends at 39secs, the final Demo for the last chart doesn't include the DoT ticks.

But it clearly shows the same Potency of 590, which would be base dmg and DoTs included, just like ALL the other Demos you have in the chart.
