[dev1360] Addressing Server Slowdown Discussion

The whole thing about the Market Ward changes sound interesting, but there's one thing that perplexes me more.

Why the change to the entrance for the Inn? And more specifically, why the Gold Court? It's not like it's a huge game breaker changing it, but I was simply curious as to why they're changing the area.

Maybe this is a temporary place until new servers will take place.

Temporary or not I'm just curious why they changed it. I think between the Gold Court and the main road towards the Adventurer's Guild acts as a zone point, moving from one area to the other makes anyone around you disappear for a moment like you're accessing a different area of the zone. Dunno if that's related to it but I'm still curious.

The way I see it is that it is predominantly the north of Uldah that is heavily populated. Perhaps the Gold Court is loaded from a different part of the code and therefore shifting some of the stress out of the north region of the map?

Viable I guess, well it makes sense to me anyway :)

It's relatively true - I don't pick up as many shouts in Gold Court as I do in the Northern areas of Ul'dah. Perhaps the zoning is different there between the two....hmm, I'm going to have to dig up that picture of the various zoning areas in the city. There was one uploaded a time ago.

It is likely because the area is too laggy, when teleporting into the inn it could be causing some issues on certain machines/internet speeds, causing to many connections to that specific server section that handles the inn.

No one goes to the other cities, so their entrances have zero lag. But everyone is stood outside Uldah Guild as well as in the Adventurers Guild.

I actually prefer this, its located better. The Limsa airship lift is right next to Inn, so that is fast, the Airship to Grid is also at the guild so you walk upstairs and ur right there, but the Uldah one you had to do a big run through all the lag to get to the Inn from the Airship. This position will be better suited for that need when related to the other cities XD

Yes, it's directly related. When that happens you actually move to a different server. This was explained in beta when they were making adjustments to the size of those zones.

Most likely this, the city must be divided in several sub-areas, thus moving the entrance makes the load lower in the area where everyone is gathering.
