Relic weapon - For Want of a Memory

Hi there,

I just want to make a quick feedback here about the quest "For Want of a Memory" for the relic weapon upgrade :

To validate the quest you must have unequipped the resistance weapon and be in the job you started the quest with.

If you don't have any other weapons to equip (other than the resistance one), you simply cannot complete it and you have to leave the area to find another weapon to equip; it is simply unthinkable to have to do that to validate a simple quest.

There's no NPC who sell weapons close to Zlatan, and no quick way to teleport in this zone.

I find this system very frustrating as a player.

To solve the problem, simply allow the players to complete the quest with any job ... Why did you have to complicate it so much?

This is true for any and all item upgrade NPCs. They can't trade you the upgraded piece if you're wearing it.
Relics, anima, eureka, resistance weapons, all tometone upgrade gear, crafted gear pieces with upgrades, you name it.

this isn't exactly new (all prior relics - except maybe Eureka? - also required it as well), but it's certainly frustrating

It's always been that way, I feel like it must be a spaghetti code issue because it's such an oddly specific annoyance that's been around since the beginning.

Just keep a very cheap lv1 -or higher - item in your inventory if you need to change. I think it's not a big issue.

I don't think the game can handle the concept of you not being equipped with some kind of primary weapon or tool, even temporarily while it removes the traded-in item from your inventory and gives you the new one.

It's not a big deal in the scheme of things but it is obnoxious. But as I said, probably a technical issue more than anything.

Tele to city > Buy lvl 1 weapon
Tele to Doman Enclave > use telepoint to get to Gangos

This is "very frustrating"?

Let me also reiterate - Tele to Doman Enclave > use telepoint to get to Gangos but there is "no quick way to teleport in this zone"

I'm more surprised that the spaghetti code can't flag one step or part of a job quest as "any class". Or even break it into separate parts, such as "BLM Relic Quest (BLM) -> Upgrade Relic for BLM (any class) -> BLM Relic Quest (BLM) continues. They've done it where a DoW quest unlocks the next chain which is DoH/L. You can also upgrade tome weapons while not on the same class. I wonder what in the code is restricting them.

If you could hand in just that step while on another class, the weapon in question would be sitting in your armory and there'd be no issue.

I would guess that the quests are job-restricted because of however they identify which job you are and which weapon to give you, or which to request for the trade. Maybe if you aren't the right job it can't process that correctly and asks you to trade in your current job's relic weapon instead of the one you're actually working on.
