Never used food before

I know this is kinda a odd question especially since i been playing for about 3 months now but I have never used food in FFXIV before, just decided to see what food does and I have a question. Is there any food in this game yet that does ANYTHING other than +3% EXP? I mean the +3 EXP. is good but I mean come on why does everything do the exact same thing? Or do they have latent effects that i'm not seeing?

Dang I guess food does all have different effects. I have another question than, since SE decided to put down pop ups of what the effects of the food is how come all food just says +3% EXP.? but according to the mooglebox link the food appareantly does a whole lot more?

The general rule is that raw food gives +3% exp. Cooked foods give other bonuses.

aww ok lol i guess that makes sense, idk if i been eating raw or cooked? im guessing raw cause its just stuff i find off of mobs and stuff, better to know thx was just thinking that if every single food gives the exact same stat whats the point? XD

It will pop up in the tooltip when you hover over it what effect it has, so you probably just have raw food if it just says +3% EXP.

Not every single food gives the exact same stat. Useful food gives +3% exp plus bonuses to almost any stat you can name, depending on the exact food. Almost everything you get as drops off mobs are raw food, useless to eat. They're meant to be used as mats for culinary synths, which produce useful food items. In other words, it's no good eating that raw meat, cook it first! (or get somebody with enough CUL skill to cook it) Useful food (which will list the stats it bonuses right on the same listing that shows you the +3 exp) is found mostly as leve rewards (particularly in Limsa), sold from NPC vendors, and sold by players in the wards.
