Compromise for anyone fixing/melding

Back when the player poll came out, I was a little conflicted on which option to pick: Needing different DoH to repair and meld different items made sense from a logic point of view, and it also gave each class a bit of their own identity. However, it's a lot more convenient if the player can repair or meld as any class.

I've thought of a compromise: Keep the requirement of having a specific class leveled far enough, but don't require that the player currently be on that class. That way the player doesn't need to check which tool he needs for the job, change to that class, then have to change back to what he was before and put all his gear back on once he's done. He can just quickly do what needs to be done.

Sounds like a good compromise to me also, switching tools and losing your cooldowns on raise and 15 minute abilities is very annoying when you have to repair your gear/weapons.

I would still like to see melding available to any class as long as they are high enough to affix and work in the same way that you don't need to change class to do it.

I think making materia affixing as accessible to both crafters and people wanting the materia affixed is good for everyone.

We should be getting a letter next week with the poll results, so it will be interesting to see what they have planned.

I voted for any crafter to be able to meld anything since although it might not make sense from a logical standpoint (logic is a low priority for me compared to gameplay) it would be nice for cul and alc to not completely get ignored when it comes to materia. I don't have cul/alc and have no desire to level them but just kinda feel crappy for friend who picked those 2 as his main crafts.

Plus I think current system makes people feel they have to level every craft just to meld (otherwise they have to trust random strangers unless they're in a big ls) which kinda just results in everyone having every craft level and then your differentiation means nothing anyway.

They're finally adding a meld system similar to repair though in 1.22 so I won't be too disappointed (as someone primarily interested in DoW and DoM) if melding as any crafter doesn't get added. Currently only craft I'm likely to be taking to 50 is wvr unless they revamp craft leves considerably.
