What’s faster for a dps: Palace of the Dead on an alt job or MSQs (starting over)?
If by starting over you mean starting a new character, then there's really no need to do that.
MSQ's give you a lot of EXP but it's not worth the hassle of... having to go through the MSQ again.
The only part of PotD that's worth doing for EXP, is the 51-60 stage. You just want to spam that.
Generally you want to just spam your latest leveling dungeon (e.g. levels 18-49, 51-59, 61-69, etc.) and this is typically your best source of EXP, but of course DPS wait times can sometimes make this prohibitive, so that's when PotD comes out on top.
That said, while you're waiting for your dungeon queue, you can always do your daily beast tribe quests, and grab any EXP boosted FATEs you come across, and all together this could beat out PotD for EXP gain.
A dose of Daily Leveling Roulette and Daily Main Scenario Roulette, coupled with Beast Tribes (in SB and ShB) and some Hunts Boards/FATEs will get you there fairly quickly, without the burnout of doing the same levels of Palace of the Dead over and over. Two hours a day with some decent XP, even counting queue times.
During prime time IMO PvP is superior to POTD and second only to your daily bonuses.
Nah. Frontline queues are <5 min around evening weekdays. On weekends queues can be <5 as soon as the early afternoon CST and stay hot up until about midnight.
Maybe you are thinking of Rival Wings. Those queues were also pretty fast during the the moogle tomestone event, at least for the first month or so. Even during that time however FL queues were fast during peak hours.
