What should a new 50 paladin be equipping/materia-ing for?

Recently hit 50, and I just blew my rainy day gil on equipping paladin.

So I have a few questions:

- Is the AF crown worth it as a head piece if you don't quite have the funds to buy a Cobalt/Sentinel's/etc?

- What are my stat priorities on gear? This question can apply to materia, too. How important is vitality compared to emnity, HP, and defense?

- Any other tips regarding stats or endgame tanking? XD Besides the "Warrior does it better" line heheh.

The crown is a good AF piece really. The only thing really up above it is having a double/triple melded MND/healing pot helm which can be costly.

Everyone else has their own opinion on which stats to stack though, personally I went for defense on the body/shield and a VIT cobalt winglet for certain situations.

Thanks bud, I'll start doing that! What do you use for the armlet? The emnity+ one or the raptorskin armlet that does +50HP?

Nix the pot helm, I have no idea why the hell I wrote that I meant cobalt/sentinel helm. Sorry bout that. XD

I wen't with the Coral Armellie, but if you don't have issues with hate the raptorskin armlet is just as viable a choice.

Thanks! I'm actually not sure if I have issues with hate at the moment as I haven't done content on my PLD yet. I'll be looking in on what to do today.

as much enmity and HP as you can. use sentinel's gear, or cobalt if you don't have sentinel's stuff. also, the af is shit.

Basically, Enmity and HP are the biggest priorities. After that is probably MND then STR or VIT. You'll probably want some accuracy rings for solo.

Why MND? Flat Blade has a very potent enmity bonus that is multiplied by the amount of damage you deal with it. This damage is enhanced by MND and STR to a lesser extent. It also boosts your auto attack damage and healing potency slightly.

AF Body is necessary because the 'enhances cover' effect is huge for MP sustain. AF head can be outdone by multi-melds but most probably won't go for it. AF hands is a choice between stronger heals or another slot with HP materia. AF legs only boosts the Regen effect, not the blocking so I would recommend Felt Trousers with HP. AF feet is absolutely terrible while Sentinel's Sabatons has a good enmity bonus and can be melded with HP. It is very easy to farm it (chest behind 2nd gate in Zaharak) as Warrior in a small group.
