But why tho?
In all honesty a collab like this and I believe this goes out towards every collab that it will NEVER appeal towards the entire playerbase. Only a fraction of people are going to be interested in certain collabs and such. But for the people who are interested (and ther ar lots of people interested just like myself) I believe there will be a purpose in holding one. I mean look at the Yo-kai watch collab that thing was made for kids and its in ffxiv?(I guess its ok since ffxiv is also kind of an anime/childs game) but still you get my point. there will always be a place where any collab will hold its own in this game
Which generation?
What's hololive? Google doesn't help just gives me animegirl pics.
One of the new girls in the Hololive English cast (the eldritch/tentacle one) loves XIV, but I doubt they would make a collab for this. Maybe make a joke about vtubers somehow with that idol group in game (Songbirds I think their name is?) but that's about it.
It's a group that some guy founded for streamers that use animated models as their "look" or online avatar (called Vtubers) that treats them like an idol group that they have different generations and such.
Think FaceRig x Youtuber, but instead of furry avatars it's Anime Girl avatars instead. They are called "vtubers" (virtual youtubers). Also, kinda like Projekt Melody (except they're not so scantily clad). They create these "characters" and people watch them for their unique personalities and the characters they've built. It's kinda like... watching an anime character live in real-time.
EDIT: Actually, looks like FaceRig has anime avatars too. Wouldn't be surprised if that's what Hololive was using, or something similar. It's basically a program that watches your webcam and replaces you with an avatar that tries to mimic your facial movements and expressions. Hololive is a company that hires talent and provides other things like equipment and such from what I've heard, and then they publish videos (on youtube, I think?). I've never watched any of the vtubers, but I've seen little clips of them that people post on Youtube of interesting things some of them say/do.
