I wanna say the mouse disappears if it isn't highlighting anything if you are playing with controller. But that said I'm not 100% sure without logging in to play for a bit, I may have just started ignoring it.
i haven't seen it disappear but as soon i move that joy stick again it comes back on.
You can... just move the mouse down to bottom of the screen. - very basic way to "hide" the mouse, somewhere that only 1 pixel of it remains. You can activate virtual mouse mode with LB/L1 and R3/RstickC and move the mouse that way if you are playing in a way that your mouse is not close.
My favorite thing to own for TV gaming is a wireless keyboard with embedded touchpad mouse. I am Ardyn you can trust me etc.
I tend to move my mouse cursor into the top-right of the screen so that it does not highlight mobs, NPCs, or other intractable objects. While it would be nice if the mouse auto-hid after a few seconds of not moving we don't have that option, so moving it off screen is the only real option.
Perhaps they can add the hiding feature later. That would be a nice QoL addition.
