Final Fantasy XIV x Final Fantasy XI - Subscribtion Combo Package

The title says it all. Since i played Final Fantasy XI back in the days of the PS2 era in the 2002's> i sometimes think back to the old glorious days.
From time to time i wish to jump back to FFXI just for the fun of retro perspective. But two subscribtions for an MMORPG at a time is too much for me.

Is it possible that we could get a "subscribtion combo package" or anything like that where we could save a lot of money by subscribing to both MMORPGs?
Something like 15,99 or 16,99 dollar per month (so around 3-4 dollar for FFXI)?


Something like that would be great and i think it only could be in the interest of Square Enix to get a little more money out of FFXI again, too?

Oh man, absolutely. I would die if they did this! I love XI but can't justify a sub(even sometimes) because I usually only play like a few days then take a break for 3 weeks. But if I could pay like 3-5$ extra on my XIV sub I would absolutely play a bit more as I wouldn't feel like I HAVE to, to get my moneys worth.

I'm down with this.

SE tried something vaguely similar nearly a decade ago when FFXIV 1.0 was first launched (as a way of encouraging also FFXI players to move over to the SE Account Management System for billing), offering reduced subscription for FFXI if you also signed up for FFXIV 1.0 with an active FFXI account. Considering they abolished that offer some twelve months later, it's clear SE decided it wasn't worth the bother.

Now, ARR is far, far more successful that 1.0 ever was, but I guess SE just are not interested in it (there is also the unfortunate implication with such an offer that FFXIV ARR could be seen as subsidising FFXI with such a subscription combo, so I doubt SE would ever consider it based on this alone).

Also, the two games actually use different billing structures - FFXI still uses it's original PlayOnline-based 'Content ID' system, where as FFXIV uses the SE Account Management System with 'Service Options' (the Mogstation is actually just a fancy front-end for the SE Account Managment System), and the two are technically distinct (SE does strongly encourage FFXI players to move their subscription over to the SE Account system, and new players to FFXI do not have a choice and have manage their subscription through it, but existing FFXI players that have not moved their accounts over are not forced to as PoL account support is grandfathered in.), so this is possibly another barrier to offering a combined subscripton rate for playing both games.

If they can get it to work without the restriction of PlayOnline, I would totally hop on this idea. I love XIV, but XI has a lot more content designed for longevity, so it would be nice to be able to play both games whenever I want for a reduced price.

I'd like them to package both together for the same prices they charge now, similar to how in World of Warcraft the subscription grants access to both modern WoW and classic WoW.

yeah, but classic wow is just wow, its not a completely different game.

As a Data Analyst/Manager I can tell you right off the bat that this would not work because of

• Time invest: Both games are going to compete heavily for time. Making it so that most people don't opt for this package option. And a lot of those that do will eventually drop this package when they notice the time investment conflict.
• Conflict: This puts the FFXI "development/operations" employees in a very dangerous position where they have to deal with the uncertainty of how successful this would be. This is a very hard sell for CEOs and investors.
• Working environment: This might endanger the health of FFXIV, creating not only service conflict between FFXI and FFXIV but also in-house conflict between the teams. This could ruin working environment morale and culture.

I just could never get into 11.
I though it was awful even when it was current.

Have tried twice in the last year to play it again and the controls and graphics just kill it for me.
