Input Issues Using PS4 Controller on PC since 5.3 Update

Steps:
1. When playing with controller on PC button inputs will seem to stick/won't be recognized. This lasts for 4-10 seconds and happens every few minutes. This results in character behaving as if auto-run is turned on, camera spinning out of control, or missed attack inputs.
2. I updated windows, controller drivers, restarted multiple times. Issue persisted.
3. Switched out for new controller, issue persisted.
4. Switched USB cable for controller, issue persisted.
5. Switched between different USB ports, issue persisted.
6. Disabled SCP Toolkit drivers to run using windows native drivers, issue persisted.
7. Using the controller input map, I can confirm that the inputs are being acknowledged on Windows-side but are not being registered within the game itself.
8. Confirmed that this issue is not happening with any other games.
9. I have used a PS4 controller on PC without issue since 5.0 launch, so I don't think the issue is specific to using a PS4 controller with windows vs. an xbox controller (which I do not own, as I do not have an Xbox).

I'm having the same issue with an xbox controller

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

We apologize that you are experiencing difficulties with your controller. Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

- Try using a genuine Xbox360 or Xbox One controller (preferably wired) as these are compatible with Windows OS.
- Try plugging the controller into different ports (both front and back).
- Make sure all drivers for the controller are fully up to date.
- Uninstall and reinstall the device drivers.
- Disable all other device drivers, leaving the mouse, keyboard, and controller as the only active devices.
- If you are using a specialized gaming keyboard, try using a different keyboard to ensure there are no conflicts between the devices.
- Try unplugging all other devices and only plugging in the mouse, keyboard, and controller.
- Make sure Windows has been fully updated form the Microsoft/Windows Update website.

Hello,

1. I don't own an Xbox controller as I don't own an Xbox. I have used a PS4 controller on PC without issue since 5.0 launch, so I don't think the issue is specific to using a PS4 controller with windows vs. an xbox controller.
2. I have now attempted this with every single USB port on my PC.
3. I have updated all drivers as well as Windows.
4. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers as well.
5. I have disabled other drivers, including the additional PS4-specific drivers I had installed in order to run only off of the ones native to Windows.
6. I am not using any specialized gaming keyboards or mouse.
7. I have no other devices plugged in aside from keyboard, mouse, and controller.
8. Windows is up to date.

I hope this information helps in figuring out the source of this issue. I notice the other reply mentions having the same issue with an Xbox controller, and I have seen a previous post with the same issue running a PS3 one, so it does seem to be a recurring issue regardless of the make of the controller.

Thanks for the response! I'll try setting up the controller again, do you have any recommended in-game settings for me to fiddle with? I did try recalibrating the controller in game, but wasn't sure what else I could adjust that might make a difference.

Went in to look at the controller settings in game and didn't really see much that might help, but tried adjusting control stick sensitivity from 55 to 40 just in case. The input issues are still happening, and seem to last for the same amount of time, just now it feels like maybe the camera spins less quickly / I don't run as far off the edge to my death every time it happens. But that could just be wishful thinking on my part...

Still having the same issues with button presses as well so no difference there at all. So if I'm pressing D-pad to go down on a menu, if the timing coincides with the input issue I'll either have to press 3-5 times to do down one option, or the menu will go crazy cycling through every option until the delay stops and I'm able to regain control.

I don't know if this info is helpful at all in figuring out what's going, but I'd really appreciate any advice on how to move forward. I'm feeling really discouraged by the game being completely unplayable after I was so excited for all the new content.
