Hi Everyone,
After the 5.3 patch I am unable to communicate with any other players in the game. I can select some channels (not all) and type something in and it will pop up into the window but no one can see it. Also if someone sends me a tell I cannot see it. I can also not see any public chats anywhere in the game. I can see peoples emotes but have no capability to interact with other people.
Can someone please help?
Just to double check... your chat filters didn't get corrupted/changed in settings, right? If you go to the configuration and check the filter for each tab, it looks correct.
At any rate, I'd quit the game and then renameto something else; I would just tack " - old" on the end. Then restart the game. You'll be missing your hotbars, but you can restore those later if just letting the game recreate local settings fixes the rest.Code:{Documents}\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn

You may want to try deleting the locally-saved data folder (My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV). Make sure to create a backup of this so you can replace it if it doesn't solve the issue.
