FFXIV might be crashing without error due to "AppModel-Runtime Event 65"

Hello!

I've been troubleshooting FFXIV lately as my game had been crashing potentially due to AppModel-Runtime Event 65 - These errors appeared every couple of minutes in my Event Viewer on Windows and has done since installing this major Windows update.

This error has occurred regardless of display drivers, windows updates and the such which I've attempted. I've followed tech support suggested by many staff members on these forums by looking at other threads.

I've been able to pin down this error by seeing if it occurred when my game crashed, in this case, it has done. My question remains is that if I can't solve this issue by reinstalling drivers and other such issues, how can I stop it?

There isn't a known trigger to cause this error when playing FFXIV. It happens at random regardless of what I'm doing ingame. These errors started after the release of Windows 10 v2004 (The big update from back in May)

I have taken a suggested action of reinstalling my redists for C++ (2015, 2017 and 2019), the issue still persists.

32GB CORSAIR DDR4 2400MHz
RTX 2070 Super
250GB SSD

Upon a little more bit self investigation, this might be caused by nvlddmkm.sys as I had a different error to today's crash, according to a reddit post https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport...80_ti/fnnm9p7/

The findings seem to point out that AMD and Nvidia are both wanting the other side to fix this. RTX cards are having an issue with AMD's virtual threads in multithreading.

A BIOS update was released recently for my motherboard, which I have taken the opportunity to update my BIOS in hopes that it causes more stability between these two components. I am yet to determine if this is a problem being caused by Windows, or a hardware issue between RTX and Ryzen.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Have any changes happened to the device before the issue began? We would also like to recommend several other troubleshooting steps:

1) Make sure that your hardware is not overheating and remove any overclocks you may have on your graphics card or processor. Please check that any fans or vents are clear of blocks.
2) Disable any additional programs that could cause interference with the game itself including chat programs. Also, remove any custom configurations made using graphics driver-level programs
3) Remove any mods or injectors from the game or system
4) Turn off Fullscreen Optimizations. Find the executable file for the game (normally found in the install folder), right-click it and select 'Properties'. Under the 'Compatibility' tab, check the box labeled 'Disable Fullscreen Optimizations', then click 'Apply'.
5) Remove any unnecessary USB or audio devices (controllers, headphones, flash drives etc.)
6) Update and reinstall the drivers for your graphics card
7) Perform a clean boot by opening the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything
8) Install Steam, Windows and FINAL FANTASY XIV onto the same drive
