I'm gonna say something unpopular: I don't like to rush.

The meta, from what I gleaned in both conversations on this forum and elsewhere as well as some Youtube videos on the matter, seems to be about blowing through a dungeon as quickly as possible. That's not fun for me, especially when I'm tanking. I will do the biggest pulls I can manage, and I will pump out as much DPS as I can while maintaining aggro, but I likely will not just rush rush rush through a dungeon as quickly as I can.

Few days ago, while running a Level 80 roulette, I had a healer who kept running out ahead of me, the tank. They were drawing aggro from the mobs while I was trying to play catch-up, and I was damned tempted to let them die.

Please do not rush me. :'(

It isn't that they are rushing you, you are holding them back by being slow. I mean, you can always ask at the start. If the other players want fast, you pull fast or leave the group and let them find a tank that values their time. You can always run with like minded individuals by putting up a party finder or finding a FC or Fellowship or something.

Well, to begin with, if you are pulling as much as you can, you're technically "rushing". That's what it is in dgns anyways. If people are running ahead of you and you're the tank and you're not feeling okay with that, ask them to let you lead. If they refuse, your choices are pretty simple: you can let them handle their pull, you can choose to kick or you can leave.

Honestly, I don't think not wanting to rush is all that unpopular, it's just simply what people are used to do but you'll find that a lot of players don't mind or care whatever speed you're going at it.

Personally, since most of my runs are comprised of mass pulls (myself included when I tank), if I were to encounter that one party that wants to take it slow, I would just shrug it off. What's that 5% of slow runs to me when 95% of the time, we go fast? :P

I do agree with you in general, but people do expect it and some can be pretty rude about it if you say no.

Imo, devs should make mana and threat matter more in MMO's again and also increase the damage or something.
I want a MMO where dungeons are actually dangerous again and where things don't spiral out of control where you can basically pull the whole dungeon.
I remember in Vanilla and TBC WoW how fun it was to mark targets, Sheep, Spellsteal, Seduce, Trap etc. It made your unique tools feel more important and cool, even just things like Healthstones from Warlocks too helped.
But nowadays it's just like the Tank runs in and pulls the whole dungeon then you spam your AoE and everything is dead.
I sorta feel like the dungeon-crawling aspect has been lost, they're more like a different environment now with lumped up mobs that we just AoE farm.

When I played Classic WoW again we started doing AoE pulling in SM and ZF, but it was still hard in comparison.
Granted maybe it just wasn't the best Mages in our group, but it definitely wasn't as easy as it is in other MMO's, and it was also a very specific thing with Mages because tanks can't stay alive when doing those big pulls so Mages AoE with Blizzard and kite them. So it's still not even the same as in how MMO's work nowadays.

you dont like to rush but you will pull as much mob as you can.... thats basically a "rush"

the moment you do that, party will think you going for "rush", thats the sign. if you dont want to rush then you pull one mob each time (you can do 2 i guess but it could the sign for rush too)

the best way is just tell them at the start of the run (iam not rushing or 1-2 mob each pull only or sorry iam new tank, etc)

It's really not that big of a deal but then again everyone's experience is different. For me, I have healed just about every type of tank and never felt the need to tell them what speed to go at. If you want to go slow and take in all the art SE puts into their dungeons then go ahead. If you don't care about the roses and want to be a speed demon then go ahead. I honestly only ever seen people get petty when things fail. Otherwise, most encounters, whether fast or slow, is usually met with people adjusting and rollin with whatever the pace is. But again that's from what I experienced.

Eh, so long as the run isn't taking 30+ minutes I dont really mind slower pulls. However it does get aggravating when said pull is slow /and/ the rest of the party is incapable of hitting more than one button for damage. At that point I might as well just tab out and watch Netflix since clearly no one else is trying. (I wouldn't make things harder like that but damn if some parties don't inspire that urge...)

All that said, talk to your party when the dungron starts to set the pace. It takes 5 seconds and generally will save potential grief later on if everyone has already agreed. If the healer is confident in keeping you up and everyone else is game, it can't hurt to opt for a faster pace.

Dont tell us, tell the people in your groups. Though honestly, if its the healer running ahead, then they probly got this. If you really want only slow pulls, my advice is to try trusts. Because most people will want fast.

Now im gonna say something unpopular(since that seems more fun then the 5 millionth debate over pull size). I dont like coffee. The taste is foul, and the smell alone is enough to make me ill.

I prefer chain pulls but for me it's not about speed of getting things done, it's about having a more interesting experience. I'm not against single pack pulls if that's what the tank wants to do but I can't say they're fun. Spamming Broil gets old very fast. Multi-pack pulls are far more interesting to me.

In general I'm not a fan of rushing. I don't want to take things super slow but I don't like to play as if I'm racing against a clock. The only content I do that in is PoTD/HoH with my floor 200/100 team because you are literally racing against a clock there, especially at the last few sets of floors.

Speed running dungeons can be fun with my friends but I hate doing it with random people. I don't know if I can rely on strangers to be able to play as well as their desired speed demands. Sometimes I have found that they cannot.

Unless you are taking long breaks between pulls then I don't see how your tanking style could be seen as slow if you're pulling multiple packs. Sure maybe the mobs might be dying slowly but that wouldn't be only your fault.

Well some players are incredibly impatient to the point of thinking it's perfectly okay to put the group at great risk because apparently a dungeon taking five minutes more than they would like is some sort of despicable crime.

Or you get some dolt who says at the beginning "do this fast, I have to go to work soon" and they just expect everyone to speed run like crazy for them because they made the stupid decision to pug content when they have very limited time to complete it.

Blame WoW. Everyone has the WoW Mythic I'm being timed must run fast mentality now.They have to chain pull the whole dungeon like MMOs are Diablo 3 or something. Id rather less trash mobs and larger hp enemies personally.
