How can I block the windows in an apartment?

I don't like the windows, and want to replace them, but that doesn't seem to be an option in an apartment. So how can I block them and put up some new (Imitation Stained Crystal Pane)? I've tried with a Marble Partition, but they don't snap to the floor (they float, see my previous post), and anyway, it won't work with the ceiling and door, I'm guessing, because I would need to place them along all the walls. I'm getting seriously frustrated by the lack of possibilities regarding the interior walls and ceiling, as I really don't want those pillars that seems to come with whatever wall you choose. Haven't Square-Enix heard about self-supporting walls?

I use Stage Panels when I want to block the default windows and pillars. They can be placed close to the walls than partitions and the pillars can remain visible while hiding other wall details.

Can't do much about the door since large furnishings being placed in front of it can block players from interacting with the exit object, leaving a teleport the only way of the house/apartment.

You can block the view of the ceiling by floating other items like rugs and the Troupe Stage but that can cause visual problems if you've added a loft area due to the lowered celiing.

And of course all the items used to cover the default interior features eats into the budget for decorating in general.

The dissatisfaction with the interior wall design has come up many times over the years but it seems to be required with the way the system has been programmed. I don't ever expect to see plain walls as the default in any housing added.

I tried the Stage Panels, but as you write, it doesn't help with the door, or the ceiling, and they float, just as the Marble Partitions I tried. I can't for the life of me understand that it should be a problem to add plain walls, floor and ceiling, letting the players decide everything from scratch, by adding stuff. And I suspect the problem is more of "Why bother changing it, we won't loose anything keeping it as it is, and it costs man-hours to change it". I've gotten used to that philosophy having played MMORPGS since the early 90's. :(

Not sure what this "floating" your seeing is, but the panels and partitions are flush with the floor on my screen.

There IS something you can with the door however.

This is my small house's (in Mist) front door:

I have stage panels lining my walls and glitch/floated a window just in front of the door and covered the gap above with wall planters. I am still able to interact with the exit through the window so it works perfectly fine.

I did something similar with my apartment though I did not cover the door with a window in this case. Needless to say this only worked because it was a Shirogane apartment due to its specific wall decor allowing the panel placement very close:

I've tried similar techniques in Lavender Beds and Mist apartments but I just couldn't get the panels as close as I can in Shirogane and still look good. Mist is particularly bad:

That's why I had to float a window as my Mist house's front door because the panels had to be further from the wall to hide the accents. If you want to take a look at either or both you can find them at:

Apartment: Aether Data Center > Midgardsormr Server > Shirogane residential Ward 1 - Subdivision, Apartment #15!
House: Aether Data Center > Midgardsormr Server > Mist residential Ward 8 Subdivision > Plot 51.

There is a trick that I'm using for windows but I've not seen it mentioned anywhere else. I'll try to explain:

1. Place a wooden slat partition(https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...e/25091b23e84/).
2. Place the window that you want to float onto the wooden slat partition.
3. Rotate the wooden slat 180 degrees so that the front side of the window is closest to the wall rather than the back.
4. Move the floating window near the wall until it is about a stage panel distance from the wall or until the original window is completely obscured.
5. Remove the wooden slat partition. The window should not snap onto the wall anymore.

This removes the need for the stage panel and should save you one furniture slot. This a will only work for items that have the same look front or back.

At one point Yoshi said they were looking into the possibility of adding the option to have apartments with no windows/pillars. Never heard anything more about it. This was 2-3 years ago at least.

The Factory Automatic door can be set where the front door is. I have my FC Forge Walls on the outside and first room on the inside. I leave the factory slider doors open and am careful to click where it says EXIT to get out and it works fine. Have not tried anything else yet on my medium house, perhaps I'll play around with something and if anything works, post here.

because whoever is in charge of the housing in the ffxiv team, doesn't actually do anything to improve it.
