So the topic of Mythics from WoW comes up in FF14 all the time it seems as a better way of increasing the difficulty of the current dungeons. It is painted as a wonderful addition that everyone is just dancing in the streets in Oggrimar celebrating all day.
Positives
1. Allows you to experience Savage level - Ultimate level difficulty in something like Grand Cosmos.
2. Instead of roflpwning and pulling the entire instance pulls are coordinated and appropriate cc is done to control getting owned by abilities you would otherwise ignore.
3. In WoW there is a gear reward that scales as the difficulty goes up. This has a positive BUT ALSO A MAJOR MAJOR downside that I will cover in the negatives area.
4. Players searching for harder content outside of raids have an option
5. The dungeons you get in FF14 patch 5.0 are now just as relevant as the dungeons you get in 5.5 because the boss gear would now matter as it would scale the ilvl difficulty up.
Negatives
1. Dungeons have set loot tables. So in patch 5.0 we all started and had an ilvl cap. Now say you farmed Twinning in a +10 difficulty (Extreme mode) and finally got the drop you wanted! You are super excited obviously. Now say that piece is your BIS item and now patch 5.1 comes out with a ilvl increase. Now you have to go farm that EXACT same item again but just with a higher ilvl.
2. In the WoW system they have chosen to have Affixes that affect things like puddles of blood spawning that causes damage, random quaking damage that goes out, Tyranical modes that make bosses hit like trucks. The downside to this system is some weeks the Affix rotation is great and everyone is happy and other weeks are you worst nightmare and healers/tanks do not bother to login.
3. In WoW outside of raiding this has become your only gearing system. Mythic Plus single handily killed crafted gear which in FF14 is an actual gearing system. Even the most basic Mythic level gives gear better then crafted gear making it meaningless outside of 1-2 pieces that might be BIS from select professions.
4. Due to the never ending scaling nature of the system from 1-infinity the gear caps out on ilvl after a certain point. Only point in doing higher levels is bragging rights on an outside leader board called ....RaiderIO
5. RaiderIO. The bane of casuals and the non worry of organized groups. Due to the way Blizzard has chosen to implement there system you cannot reset the timer after you start a run. This means if someone rage quits after the first boss then you are screwed. There is also no way of choosing you key so you are stuck with the dungeon you get. The community now has a required addon called RaiderIO that has a scoring system not determined by Blizzard but outside forces that track and force you to download updated data.

I appreciate you putting these factors together. However, i personally would love to see a mythic plus system without the gear race. Maybe scale items to a fixed level and drop some mounts or glam for achieving stuff. I don't need better gear, i need a challenge outside of big groups. PVP is well ... not focussed a lot and i don't have time for regular raiding evenings. So for me it would be a good fit.
I want something about skill not about getting godlike armor items i have to grind for all my free time. -

There doesn't need to be a way they slot into progression. -

I certaily don't miss WoW's rng over rng loot.
If a thing like this would be implemented I rather have it like Guild Wars 2 does with their raids, in which you get gear that gives you a special stat that only works to power you in the raids themselves, pretty much like Eureka gear with elemental bonus, or for that matter just a separate leveling level like Eureka itself. -

FF14 is a different beast with a very different playerbase. I honestly think Square could do Mythic + right and not make it such a tedious system with so many arbitrary things. There were multiple things I could not even list on why Blizzard makes the system worse then it ever needs to be because of the silly character limit on these forums. I had to delete over 2,000 characters to get it down to the limit of 3,000.
^ Basically this. FF14 players are asking for smaller encounters that require you to pay attention to the mechanics and not faceroll them into the ground. It does not have to be some primary progression like Mythic + has become but a fun side system that scales.Quote:

2. When the expansion first launched there was a bug that let you trash a Key for a instance you hated and reroll for a quicker run or better dungeon. 4. THE METAAAAAA. In WoW depending on the patch there is a meta group comp that automatically owns in Mythic plus. If you are not in the meta then good luck getting into a group. Sure some hardcore raiders will say it does not matter but these guys will also farm 16 hours a day to get world first on an Ultimate. So problems that are obvious in raids get compounded far more heavily in Mythic plus effectively killing classes.
5. In WoW it has led to guilds not seeing much point to any Normal or Heroic content and then not having the skill/people to do Mythic so they have no real point in logging on. So imagine you have a static that is working on a Savage but now you have Grand Cosmos savage that rewards the same or higher gear in an ultimate that can be run in a minimal amount of time. What point does the Savage raid serve anymore especially if you know if you are not going to do Ultimate.
6. Making gear the incentive to run on the hamster wheel the RNG has been turned up to 100 or else you would farm it quick and have no reason to do it again. Another cheese exploit around the system has been to bring all people in a class who wear leather so you get more leather drops.
Mythic has multiple knock on effects once you add gear rewards into the equation. Only thing that makes sense is achievements, currency, minions, mounts and glamour.
