1 tier old savage content (E4S) requires no healer. SE needs to address

You want to know why healers are bored and upset?

Their role can be effectively eliminated in relatively current content. This wasn't even the players vastly overgearing the content, they were roughly at max ilvl for it (ilvl 470)

What I'm seeing here is smn needs to be nerfed.

This reminds me of the "tanks aren't needed" issue we ran into with ramuh ex, which funnily enough, also relied on smns to break mechanics.

Too many other jobs than healers have too many healing / mitigation skills on short CD's.

I get it, it's supposed to be for solo play but solo play rarely requires them.

Only XIV's community can take an accomplishment that requires well coordinated play from the entire party, and sub-optimal play at that, and turn it into a whine thread.

Eh... that's more of a SMN quirk, being able to erect a 30% HP barrier and stack up 5 stacks of Everlasting Flight. Plus a DNC's Shield Samba and Curing Waltz.

It's not that it can be done without healers, it's that all those SMN's together can substitute for the healers. And that's the thing, it takes 5 SMNs and a DNC to make up for 2 Healers. 6>2 isn't a fair trade off.
All they would really have to do is not allow Everlasting Flight to stack and this would be impossible.

The problem with Healing is the same as it's always been, not enough to do during downtime. You can't realistically raise the healing requirement much further, because then for casual players and progging it would be far more difficult so as to be prohibitive.

Oh I think it's neat. But rather than it being an issue with healers, as the OP seems to be insinuating, it's definitely just smn being too op.


Its also used in E8s to solo heal, since you can use titan to get through add phase.

SMN is definitely OP.
It has a party regen better than DNC's curing waltz, a party damage buff better than RDM, a personal shield as good as manaward, and the DPS capabilities of a BLM.

I loved watching all the cute, tiny Titans smack the big Titan and Phoenixs and Bahamuts popping up all over the place. Five glowing little rock balls hurrying after their big bro and punching him with their tiny fists was adorable.
But I agree with the others that it's more of a SMN quirk than a good reflection of how things generally work. Healing requirements are low but it's late into the tier with many top tier players bored out of their mind and they will find that one class with that one skill that allows some "no XY" shenanigans and other experiments.

Even if this is an extreme case (probably top players) which does not really reflect the whole game, it is still pretty telling of the stage healers are in.
Even when you have healers in your party they don't need to heal that much either so why even bother bringing 2?

It's more that SMN is incredibly versatile, while not being subject to the same drawbacks that other jobs receive for their versatility. RDM's 'raise tax' for example.
