So my game was crashing like so many others due to various DirectX 11 errors that have not been addressed. Tired of being unable to play the game for any length of time I decided to reinstall the game in its entirety.
Why is the download speed so incredibly slow? It will take me something in the order of 15 hours to download this game at its current speed. This isn't exactly peak patch download time so why is the download speed so pathetic?

When downloading the game, are you connected to the router directly? Are you using WiFi? Additionally, when it crashes, where does it occur? Does the crash happen when Final Fantasy XIV is first loaded?

I am connected directly to the modem via CAT6E.
The crashes occur at launch about 50% of the time. They occur when attempting to close the game 100% of the time and at random during gameplay.

To prevent repeating previously attempted troubleshooting, what have you tried to alleviate the problem? Does this crash happen when Final Fantasy XIV is the only program running? Also, could you provide a system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

The above error happens as soon as I launch the game. This happened previously before I did a complete reinstall of the game and continues to happen after a complete reinstall of the game. The only way to get the game to launch is to reset system settings in the launcher. Following that the game will work for a while. If it lasts long enough without crashing it will lock up when I attempt to exit the client.

Have any changes happened to the device before the issue began? We would also like to recommend several other troubleshooting steps:
1) Make sure that your hardware is not overheating and remove any overclocks you may have on your graphics card or processor. Please check that any fans or vents are clear of blocks.
2) Disable any additional programs that could cause interference with the game itself including chat programs. Also, remove any custom configurations made using graphics driver-level programs.
3) Turn off Fullscreen Optimizations. Find the executable file for the game (normally found in the install folder), right-click it and select 'Properties'. Under the 'Compatibility' tab, check the box labeled 'Disable Fullscreen Optimizations', then click 'Apply'.
4) Remove any unnecessary USB or audio devices (controllers, headphones, flash drives etc.)
5) Update and reinstall the drivers for your graphics card
6) Perform a clean boot by opening the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything
