Transition between past ARR to next patch ARR

I really wonder what ARR will be like once this big change will be done. As someone who has been playing since 2014,I was never bothered by the huge quest line people complain about. Most likely because it was fed to me little by little. But what are your expectations/fears about this change?

From what tidbits have been said (which isn't much) they want to get rid of the 'bloat' between post-ARR and HW. What is that, near 100 quests? Way too much (and I've done them all lordy help me).

There have been some posts that new players have quit because of such quest bloat, being a lot of the game is locked behind the MSQ. So removing some quests is definitely a start.

Call me a masochist, but I just did the 2.0-2.x storyline to "refresh" myself on it. And yeah it was long as hell, but I could blitz through it in about..I dunno, a month casually. Skipping cutscenes on this second character it wasn't THAT bad, but there were a lot of time waster quests I felt.

I'm planning to do it again once the patch drops on a 3rd character to compare.

Currently, just if I had to throw ideas out there... I think it's going to just straight out cut or streamline a lot of the back and forth (Go back to walking sands, talk to 1 guy in blahblah, walking sands, kill mob over in blahblah, walking sands). Ideally using the linkpearls to just "radio in" to to get the next orders. I also think they might cut a lot of the "do 2-3 errands before actual progression", which seems to happen more in the 2.x before the later primals.

Ideally most of the bloat will just turn into optional sidequests.


BTW My goal is to get more private rooms in my FC house to do things like spa or whatnot..so I'm not just throwing myself at a wall here!

It won't be much different I think. A bit of streamlining where some travel from A to B to A to B is changed to a single trip. A few quests made optional that did not contribute much.
And so on.
No major changes to the story.

It's roughly 100 yeah, and a good chunk of it can be shortened down to perhaps 1/3rd of that amount without cutting much of anything substantial. I do hope the pre-Titan quest chain also gets cut down. Even back in ARR it was a blatant attempt to get you to 'tour' the nice zones the devs had made that were otherwise ignored during the MSQ progression, and now it's just way too much busy work to be what is essentially an Instacart delivery person. If they handwaved most of the other fetch quests and have us only help Brayflox while the rest gather up the food on their end it'd save a good chunk of time and sanity.

i actually finish the arr storyline twice in the old days using 2 different character because at that time i didnt realize you could just swap class freely lol

but i think there shouldnt be a problem with the transition, yoshi said they only "remove" the unnecessary one, something like the one that you need to do quest to prepare a feast before facing titan? i dont see any point of doing that lol they could just use cutscene about it and be done with it, but nope here a quest to collect food and stuff.

I guess my concern is that they actually won't remove enough of it. The whole early game story progression could use work and just nipping and tucking a little bit here and there in the post-ARR stretch probably isn't going to be enough to really streamline things to the level where it will improve things enough to matter.

So, I thought they're only doing ARR for 5.3, but according to this, it seems they've adjusted the entire MSQ up to Shadowbringers so you can level by only doing the MSQ on your first job. That's very cool, if true. Hopefully this feature would carry forward to the next expansion's MSQ.

Hmm, I've been taking alts through MSQ lately but that sounds like I should hold off for a week or so. Maybe I'll just mop up some sidequests this week.

They are adding aetherite tickets to the Waking Sands(which doesn't make sense because of lore reasons, but I will take it because holy shit running back there every other quest is annoying as hell). That alone will cut so much time out of the ARR questing process.
