Changing Player Name due to IRL events.

So is it possible to change my characters last name without spending the 10 dollars? I only ask since when I named my character Julios Maxwell I didn't know anyone in the world with that name at the time and thought it sounded cool. Now with recent news involving some despicable people I want to change my last name but having to spend 10 dollars seems a little much. I understand that their an entire issue with people changing their names in order to do bad stuff like stalking people or pretending to be people online so I get needing to lock down this feature in order to keep people from abusing it. I don't need to change my characters full name just the last name. I know this is asking a lot I just don't want to come off as I'm supporting this person and their awful acts. I'd rather not run around in a online game reminding people of those things or current news.

You can attempt to content SE support but I highly doubt they will allow a free name change. If I may comment, I can't imagine many people will care about your surname or how it may relate to some horrible person. Maxwell isn't even an uncommon surname. In fact, I know a very good raider with said name. So I really wouldn't worry too much over it. Nevertheless, if you still want to change your surname, you'll likely have to spend the $10.

I would be very surprised if anyone makes that connection. I would save my money
